pick yyz-lca as cities and input dates. Go to "options" and choose Business Class. It works better when its a Thrusday -monday as most dates w/o a Sat stay are not coming up (don't think that matters however). I got Feb 1-5, 2007 no problems.

My return flight to Boston says it is on a 767-400 ? I didn't know Alitalia ordered any of these and don't see a record of it on the Boeing site. Any idea where they are getting these aircarft from ?

These have all been going out paper from the beginning. (Perhaps something to do with multiple airlines on the same itinerary?)

My suggestion is to book Nov 5 YYZ-LCA and Nov 12 LCA-YYZ on Orbitz.com selecting Business AND Alitalia in the "expand search option"/"additional search options" area. As date changes are apparently free, that may be helpful as something to negotiate from is better than having nothing to go from.

So as with all mistake fares, we will have 20 more pages dedicated to the "will they honor or won't they", 10 pages of who's going when in order to meet up and 6 more pages of "trip reports" after the first person makes their trip.

20 minutes ago on Orbitz, I booked a week in July for 2 people w/ a 29 hour stop in Rome on the outbound, returning through BOS then AA back to YYZ. Only the transatlantic segments are in Business class. Many dates in August offered the $33 fare, but repriced much higher upon selection if there was more than one passenger. Mid July was going through at $33 on several dates for 2 passengers.

I have no reason to believe that my tickets -- i.e., with ticket numbers -- won't be honored by AZ. In the past 15 months, I've had good experiences with AZ.

What do y'all reckon the odds are that they will endorse these fares over to another airline?

Oh, and BTW, I just got the ticket numbers for the 5 tickets I booked at 11:10 CST. The ticket #s came in at 12:00, CST on the nose.

Please, please, read your preferred airline's partner guide to see what, if any, miles you might be able to earn on AZ or CY flights. The fare class this is booked in is D.

For Northwest flyers, this will earn 150% EQM / 150% RDM, so you all should be happy about that. $0.017 / mile. ^

According to rules.. no charge from the airline to change tickets but $50 for changes from Cheaptickets ... no biggie except that it has to be re-priced or follow the same routing... which means YYZ-ORD-FCO-MXP-LCA on the outbound for me... return is much better: LCA - MXP (2 night stopover) - EWR (this is wher emy journey ends) - YYZ.

Good news is that tickets have been shipped!!

Now to find a cheap one way to YYZ...

I just booked on Orbitz, End of September, Early October 2006. I originally tried a return on a Monday, but it wasn't there. Changed it to Tuesday, and it was there. $218 All in. Also need to make sure you choose "Business Class" under "more Options".

Ten minutes later, the phone rang fron Cheaptickets, verifying the mailing address (it's a confusing one for a UPS delivery), we switched the delivery over to US Mail and was told that Tix #'s would be entered right after we hung up. Very nice, quick response I thought.
With-in the next ten minutes, she calls back (OH NO!!!) but confirms that they, indeed cannot ship UPS and will be sending it overnight and she has reduced the shipping costs billed as a result.

I managed to get two tix for Aug 24 - Sep 2, with an invol 22 hour stopover in Milan on the way back, which is perfect. Both flights are via MXP. One segment (MXP-LCA) came up Econo on one ticket (only 3 hrs+), but who cares.

Total cost for Canadian delivery came out at $228.65 per ticket. I've already received ticket numbers, seat assignments and advised they'll be shipped FedEx.

Alitalia's many strikes have been so small and well-scheduled that they didn't impact me even once last year. (And I flew AZ for well over 150,000 elite qualifying miles within the past 15 months and at least 75,000 EQMs in the first two months of this year.)

Supposedly Alitalia stands for Always Late In Take-off And Landing In Airports. But they don't seem to be that bad to me either.

Flying out on 12/27 via MXP. Forced overnight arriving LCA on 12/29. Coming home on 1/1, routed via FCO/JFK. Being a New Yorker I might accidentally miss my on-going flight to YYZ on the return.

I also had a Thanksgiving one that I had to cancel, as the return as actually on Monday, and had to be back on Sunday.

I got ticket numbers issued from orbitz...feeling good but will feel better when the ups shipment goes out. I spoke to a nice person over there about fare rules and changes (no mention of fare basis ever took place). I was told it is fully changeable and that it allows unlimited stopovers for MXP and FCO for any length of time. I am thinking a month long stopover in Italy on my way to 3 days in Cyprus.

same here.. lack of serious investment in Skyteam mileage + potential for AZ screwups/strikes persuaded me from diving into this deal. If I was going for a long vacation, the prospect of a delayed arrival is no biggie.. but for mileage run purposes, it would be potentially disastrous.

buying for fun versus.. buying for business-related reasons?

I got two for YYZ-LCA via Milan and Rome. Strangely, the Milan to LCA leg is in economy. It wasn't when I booked it but came that way when the confirmation came through. Any suggestions on how to get that bumped up?

If I'm unable to get the dates I want, is advisable to book whatever dates are available and then hope to be able to change them to dates closer to what I really want?

I've booked one trip already, but there may be a few other times I want to go. One of them isn't available anymore, and the other is in June of next year, which we're not yet able to book....

I can pull up many days at the low fare for one person, but when I switch to two people it always goes waaay up. Why is this??
Because you're finding flights with only 1 D seat available. So it prices full fare.

How long till we get ticket number confirmation email with orbitz? I just ticketted 30 minutes ago?
Was taking 30 minutes at 5 am EDT, then 1 hour at 10 am EDT, now reports of 2 hours.

Not sure if folks are doing it for fun. It is just the pressure of having to make a decision before the fare is pulled!!! You dont want to have them on the red button :D :D :D

I just booked on Orbitz 12/28 to 1/2. (2 pm Eastern)

Just picked up a ticket for MLK weekend, 2007. Ticket was purchased on Orbitz at 1:55pm EST.

1/13/07: YYZ-MXP (AZ, C class, 762)
1/14/07: MXP-LCA (CY, Y-class 320)

1/15/07: LCA-FCO (CY, C-class 320)
1/15/07: FCO-JFK (AZ, C-class, 772)

1/16/07: JFK-YYZ (AA, Y-class, ER3)

Total cost: $182.60 airfare + $9.99 service fee + $21.95 paper ticket = $214.54

If it's just date changes, a reprice is not necessary with AZ. (Expedia kept trying to get me to reprice my tickets when requesting a date change, but AZ always changed my travel dates on wholly unused tickets and did so generally without issue.)

if the flight from MXP to LCA is fully booked in Business it will book you automatically in Y .

No big deal cause alot of FT`s will join every day the flight to LCA and back

Not true. If you look at the Cyprus Airways websites, their 319's and 320's have a two-class cabins. AZ timetable doesn't show any AZ-operated flights (ex-MXP or FCO to LCA, they're all CY-operated).

I booked two tickets eliaer--seperate reservations--and the confirmation e-mails and ticketing info was sent outin about 15 minutes.

I was told by an orbitz Int'l travel expert that stopovers can be added at any time later and all you have to pay is to remail the tickets since they are paper (like $30).

Im curious though if they are alitalia stock cant I just take them to ORD for reissue with stopover changes?

Hmm, I just got a fare of $1348 in October. Multi city with a stopover in ROM, it killed the $33 fare but gave a still-low-for-J fare.

If he can provide any more info. as to the J cabin type for the 762 YYZ-MXP, that would be awesome. AZ used to market it as Coral Class, but as you said, things are in a state of flux with the product revamp and overall restructuring.

Yes, I just got a tracking number. I was on the phone with customer service adding my OnePass number to the itinerary and the rep found it for me. I'm in for the week of July 4th! Thanks to the OP!

NO - it's taking up to two hours now to get tix numbers. Never call during a special.

Does anyone still see any availability for Thur/Fri-->Mon trips over the summer? I was in the middle of nbooking two trips and stupid Orbitz crashed and I couldn't retrieve what I had - now all their results show no availability when booking.

Transatlantic? You mean Trans-EurAsia? :D (Ok, some of one and a lot of the other. :D )

IMO, AZ's 777 biz seats are better than all the US carrier's biz seats currently in service. AZ's 767 -- which is what seems currently scheduled -- seats are not as great but are comfortable enough. The big shortcoming is lack of personal in-flight entertainment for the current 767 seats. (The 777's IFE system is rather good.) [AZ's not unknown for swapping equipment.]

AZ's in-flight service I find to be generally better (and more genuine) than most other US and European carriers. I do find AZ's catering to be somewhat weak. The real downside for me on AZ's long-haul service is AZ's ground operation and the lack of personal IFE on the 767s and problems with the audio feed at the seats.

AZ's lounges at MXP have too few showers (most of the time) and are too crowded and have little to offer most of the time. (They also removed the free internet computers due to anti-terrorism legislation and never cared to do the necessary to put it back in.) Also, the "rescreening" security process can be a pain (although nowhere near as idiotically intrusive as at FRA, AMS and CDG). A MXP issue is the airport's heavy reliance on buses instead of jet bridges.

Found lots of dates with "D" class on ExpertFlyer, however niether Cheaptickets nor Orbitz bring up ANY fares when searching for Business on Alitalia. When putting this on any airline, just gets really high fares on combination of airlines.....

Don't think this will be around much longer...

Also for those getting seated in economy on your YYZ-NYC/IAD/BOS portions are most likely flying on an RJ with no J section.... I pulled up some fares that had E75 on the EWR-YYZ on AC with seats in business...

How long does it take to get ticket numbers through Orbitz? I have confirmation numbers so far. ITIN is showing on Air Canada and American's website.

Finding the $33 fare is no problem --- booking it is impossible. Orbitz displays an error message with a new price of around $4000 after selecting your flight.

I just received the following email from Orbitz regarding a Thanksgiving week trip. Does this mean that the tickets have been reserved or Orbitz has just requested a reservation from the airline. Some seats are showing confirmed, but some flights are just showing confirmed. No ticket numbers. Thanks.

GONE! I had it in my hand but after choosing the flights, it would not book. I tried a ton of dates but Orbitz and Alitalia evidently plugged the leak.

I think the fare is gone - I have now tried three diff sites and not able to pull this fare up. I am so dissapointed - I was hoping to have my first crazy MR experience.

Yes, and offering the fare for sale directly via the airline's own telephone agents will greatly undermine any argument AZ might try to make. That, and the fact that consideration is being given to AZ for the seats.

I'm trying to book the trip from YYZ to LCA on or around the following dates:

Departing:
Dec 28th

Returning:
January 3rd

Any help would be appreciated. I tried several times last night and this morning I'm having no such luck.

This will be my first anniversary trip so I'm really hoping to get the tickets.

i'm travelling these days (actually returning to Italy 1/2 and YYZ 1/3) and tried to add someone, but it seems to be unavailable.

It seems to be gone. None of the random date samplings I've done have turned up the $33 fare. Previously it would come up, but was unable to be booked.

On expertflyer it seems that the D inventory is sold out on the FCO/MXP-LCA segments. D is available on the transatlantic segements (too bad we can't just book those)

I just don't understand why people expect, almost insit the airlines honor these when they are Obviosly mistakes.... Sigh... Did any one take contract law?

Given other airlines' sales where the base cost of the ticket was even less than the $33 for this one, this is not an "obvious mistake". :)
