Received e-mail confirmation from Travelocity approx. 2 hours after booking

On which Travelocity? I did not find anything there with the standard searching process.

Cheaptickets is owned by orbitz so they charge the shipping/handling etc fee. Unless you actually booked from Orbitz?? I checked before and couldn't get it to price...

I too had no success with trying to get this to price on Orbitz. That's where I tried first .... but perhaps I should have also tried there closer to the end/now too. Well, I have to run off now too. :o

Cheaptickets.com per Savage25's posted dates of travel. Got it within the last 40 minutes. And ticket numbers are still coming through on AZ ticket stock. :)

I booked a 'one way' so that I could return after Xmas holidays with another ticket later in January which I suspect I won't be able to use. Perhaps the best strategy is to imagine going 'against the flow'.

Those tickets allow for partial refunds (some $140 will be refunded when only flying LCA-PDX), so you won't even have to throwaway the return. I'm sure glad we decided to spring for the "B" fare.

Just a quick note for people with no hotels set up yet. Hilton has a 10k point property, Hilton Park Nicosia (until the June increase), which is a pretty good deal. Earlier this morning, it was coming up as a Diamond only force, but as I was calling in, it all of a sudden popped up again. $50 a night (in points) seems to be a pretty good value. Looking through FT, it seems to have gotten good reviews.

Anyone had success with very near dates?

This particular D fare does not become effective before 18MAY06. Hence, no way to get this deal on very near dates.

Same here. Price is quite often 33+ taxes and fees, but reprices to something reasonable as soon as I try to select them.

I was getting this on Cheaptickets too - just have to keep changing flight selection or dates and you will eventually snare one.

We're extending a trip from Down Under now and picked up 7/5-7/10.

Perhaps a good reason to use AZ's own program. 50,000 EQMs is each to achieve with these flights and it gets you lounge access across SkyTeam. And for US-Middle East, it's a better value than most all US programs.

Looks like its gone on Cheaptickets... was able to snag 2 tickets but there were many stops (2-3). when I tried again to re-book something else, it didnt let me.. now gotta find a way to shorten this trip and perhaps find a way to YYZ : )

For those having trouble, part. with expedia and travelocity, try selecting Economy. that made all the difference.

I just snagged one on cheaptickets for June 28 with return on July 10. No direct flight from YYZ. Had to route thru NYC - JFK outbound and return EWR. Total with paper tickets = 181USD. Sweet .........Also on 777 across the pond. Thanks for this post.

Both of my trips have a 7 day MXP stopover.

Before you have your biz-class tickets in hand, I wouldn´t buy any tickets to YYZ. I haven´t yet received the confirmation e-mail that my tickets have even been issued. It´s been hours already.

Did you just get it through Orbitz multi-city?

On Orbitz.com. Simple roundtrip selection using YYZ-LCA ... for dates from May 20 returning August 6 or 8th for example. This is as of two minutes ago. :)

Just got my email confirmation from cheaptickets with ticket numbers issued saying tickets will be mailed by UPS within 24 hours. I am so happy that I got on this deal.

Normally with Alitalia tickets (on AZ ticket stock) -- and that's what they are as far as mine go -- date changes are free when done by AZ staff and don't involve a repricing. Simply a revalidation/reissuance at most. If someone wants to push for a repricing, try someone else. :) (This is how it worked for my sub-$230 DEL-MXP-LON-MXP-DEL Alitalia business class tickets.)

I am finally getting the $32 fare on CheapTickets, but it has not let me book it. I have pulled up the fare about 3 times.

Orbitz is working rather well for me with simple roundtrips (that include a 23-hour layover in some cases) .... but occassionally says that something has changed .... and my total cost goes up by less than 5-20 bucks. That is to say, on Orbitz, the $185-$206 total cost tickets are available.

Everytime I try to book on Orbitz the window shuts down...tried it three or four times. I really would like to use this if I can..

Not all dates, but a bunch of dates for those months. I know Sunday departures and Sunday returns seem to be working really well on Orbitz still. This is anything but gone on Orbitz right now.

I was wondering this too - as well as if it was possible to forsake the LCA-Rome-Milan sectors and join the flight from Malpensa.

My flight from YYZ – LCA has about 3 stops (Milan, Rome, Chicago) which is fine I guess…. The return is much better.. I have a 3 day stopover in MXP.. so its MXP – EWR – YYZ.

The MXP – EWR flight is operated by Alitalia and the EWR – YYZ by Air Canada.. Can I just get off at EWR? Will they try to screw me with the hidden city pair rule? Will the fact that it is two carriers make a difference?

I picked up 2 flights. All had the 21 hour layover on the return.

Will there be any way to eliminate this layover? Or would it probably be better to just turn it into a stopover and enjoy milan?

The best I can tell, if I cancel, I will be out the 40$ shipping fee (Orbitz.com to canada) and the 19$ processing fee.

The exact terms of ticket validity are found in Alitalia's contract of carriage and I suggest you check that out for a more firm assessment.

Any bets that this will no longer be available at around the same time of day that the AZ DEL-LON biz fares in the sub-$250s got pulled on February 17, 2005 (i.e., something like 12.30 EST)? :D

I've not yet been downgraded by AZ on any of AZ's dirt cheap biz fares -- even when the cabin was full and I was travelling on a ticket less than 10% of the lowest fare then available.

Extremely unlikely.

Many carriers, especially non-US carriers, do not do advance seat assignments.

Alitalia will, just WAIT until you get your ticket and then phone them up. ;)

Got Seat assignments for the Alitalia legs, its just the Cyprus airways legs that don't assign seats. Who cares.. for this price, I would ride like Fred Flinstone!!

10k points per night is a bargain, it would seem for a "high season" nice place in Larnaca.

This is going to work wonders for me. I'll be able to use this to intersect with the leftovers from an earlier AZ deal to do MXP-DEL. And it will cover me across the Atlantic during the peak travel periods so that I can mix the personal and the professional in the right proportions with far lower than usual costs. :)

The 767s are supposedly getting new seats -- like the seats in the 777. I like AZ's 777 biz cabin seats. I find them far better than DL's, AA's and UA's biz seats for long-haul flights.

I had no problem making a date change on my DEL-LON flight thanks to your advice and a very helpful AZ agent who sounded like he was based in Italy. :cool:

Me too...just did a number of phantom bookings over Thanksgiving...came up with a number of different variations for 11/22-11/26 or 27, or 11/23/-11/27. Best one included a full day lay over in MXP going to LCA and returning to YYZ. But, <sigh> can't go.

Same here with the 1C and 2D assignments. There doesn't seem to be a place on Alitalia.com to enter the PNR and see whats going on with seats let alone change them. Hope that when the paper tickets arrive that things are straightened out.

Me too...just did a number of phantom bookings over Thanksgiving...came up with a number of different variations for 11/22-11/26 or 27, or 11/23/-11/27. Best one included a full day lay over in MXP going to LCA and returning to YYZ. But, <sigh> can't go.

No..They would void your return portion or charge you the full Biz Class price.

Same here with the 1C and 2D assignments. There doesn't seem to be a place on Alitalia.com to enter the PNR and see whats going on with seats let alone change them. Hope that when the paper tickets arrive that things are straightened out.

Just got YYZ-AA-JFK-AZ-FCO-CY-LCA with same routing on return for early october. Got AA seats assigned no probs and seat 1A JFK-FCO but no assignment for FCO-JFK. Will call for other assignment nearer the time when everything has settled down. Hopefully this deal sticks. Thanks again to the OP ^

You can book a stop over in Rome you know...I am going to Rome for week, then Cyprus for 2 days and back through MXP to YYZ>

oh that was easy. but can't go... :p

with all the fees, it is about US$200 per ticket - about C$240.

A low season roundtrip from YYZ-LHR is about C$450 + ryanair to wherever C$100.... so end up saving about C$300..

I know the economy and business difference... but dont' want to travel alone vacationing. And I doubt AZ will give you any miles on this ticket.

Cyprus Airways will cancel the rest of your booking if you no-show.

Alitalia generally enforces it to the point that it won't let you throwaway segments on the departure and still use the return unless specifically noted in the PNR as some type of emergency. It's a big gamble -- most probably a losing one (but less of a losing one than what you'd get with LH or SK) -- to try that with AZ in a non-emergency situation.

If I wanted to be a huge gambler and try something like that, then at least I'd make sure that I have a stopover in Italy on the YYZ to Cyprus ticket.

It's safer to do a one day at your destination and then a stopover in Milan on your return back to North America.

Had the same problem - try booking it "piece-by-piece" - when the screen with the appropriate fare shows up, select an outbound flight, THEN select a return flight instead of just selecting a complete itinerary...

I had that problem for an August booking (one way Biz, one way Y on Cyprus Airways) - I personally recommend just grinning and bearing it, as the flights are short enough, probably offer more service than a US legacy would for a similar stage length anyways, and the longhauls are still in Biz...

While a tight connect is always an issue, at JFK you will have to exit security anyway from AA to transit to the DL terminal 3 to catch the MXP flight. With a business class ticket though you should have some priority both checking in and clearing security.

Yes. You most certainly can book children under adult fares.

The fares are still available and can be booked on Orbitz. Usually when the fare is not available it gives you the latest fare or does not allow you to finish the booking.

Heard about this from AAFrequentFlyer on Fodors.com about an hour ago. Didn't need to even think about it... this is not a "mileage run" for me - - it's our trip to Europe for the year. Reservationist put me on hold for quite a while to "check this out with supervisor". Since I talked live with an Alitalia reservationist, I have no ethical qualms, even if it IS a genuine mistake (doesn't it have to be?) - - haven't read all 32 pages of posts here this morning - - just wanted to let others know that the fare is still being sold.

I know that in YYZ if flying to the US one undergoes US preclearance, but if flying thru YYZ in direct transit outbound to another Int'l destination, does one have to go thru Canada immigration/customs, or do they have airside transfer.

I am searching Orbitz multi-leg business class. When people list dates I am trying date YYZ to MXP date +1 MXP to Lca and return LCA - MXP date and MXP to YYZ date +1

What am I doing wrong?

I received a ticket number for the first of three reservations an hour ago. Nothing yet for the next two.

My Orbitz and CheapTicket itineraries have ticket numbers. With Travelocity, nothing has been posted about ticket numbers nor shipping tracking numbers. On the contrary, Travelocity says something about checking the ticket with the airline before issuing it. Is that standard Travelocity language? (It seems to be.)

This might be a dumd question. I booked hubby and I. He told me to go back and book the kids. It won't let me book with out an adult. Were on the same flight. Can I book them under adults?

I would book one kid as an adult and the rest as children in case there is a child discount for passengers under 12.

I know that in YYZ if flying to the US one undergoes US preclearance, but if flying thru YYZ in direct transit outbound to another Int'l destination, does one have to go thru Canada immigration/customs, or do they have airside transfer.

For my AA to BA flights that have me transiting via YYZ (for US-UK via Canada) I had to go landside at YYZ and reclear security.

Seems maybe this ended at 12pm, EST. Can't even get Orbitz to confirm.

Just happy I got a great seat during Mediterranean high season in July.

Still waiting anxiously for ticketing numbers. Ordered trip cancellation insurance.....just in case.

Doesn't Orbitz charge a $200 change fee? I messed up and cut short my ideal trip by a day and would like to fly back a day or two later, now...

My return flight to Boston says it is on a 767-400 ? I didn't know Alitalia ordered any of these and don't see a record of it on the Boeing site. Any idea where they are getting these aircarft from ?

I believe you do, at least for AC/UA. All AC/UA transborder flights come to Terminal 2, and if your trying to connect to an international or canadian flight you must take the bus to Terminal 1. Give yourself extra time to do this.

I'm showing $5000+ for each person on every engine I tried... Is this deal dead? Looks that way to me...
