That's what I thought, and hence my calls to Orbitz and AZ, but noone has (or is giving out) the number to the mysterious Rome office that is doing the reissues! Can anyone find it?
From what little I've gathered, the Rome office is an "internal" company office that does not interact directly with customers - kind of like the Orbitz Ticketing Desk.

So here's a stupid question.. got my tickets but on Orbitz's itinerary that is on top of the tickets I do not see a PNR anywhere. Where should I look? Thx
A PNR code can be found on the paper ticket -- generally right next to (actually left of) the filled-in fare basis field with DRTCA9 noted.

To make long story short, he said he will be reinstating the tickets although they were voided and money refunded to my credit card (will charge the card again) and I will get the tickets soon.
Based on what I have read so far, it will be very difficult to reinstate a CANCELLED ticket. Without a paper ticket in hand you dont have a strong case. And the fact that your charges were refunded does not look good. I hope the agent is not giving you a false impression/hope on this. Good luck.

Edited to add: finally got another Orbitz agent to call AZ directly on my behalf, and got the same run-around from the agent in Palermo...the Rome office is doing it, and we cannot rush them! Why is everyone afraid of this Rome office?! She assured me it will be done, but again has no time-frame and said that the Palermo office can't do it!
That certainly seems to be the official line: Rome is handling it, Palermo cannot.
Alitalia would not have found itself in this mess -- spending even more money -- if they would have simply not played games with the ticketed itineraries. They should have just focused -- like they are now -- on solutions that are opaque to most all customers and let the ticketed itineraries stand -- fare rules and all -- from the beginning.

In Hindsight, I think the worse thing that AZ did was to prematurely cancel ALL the reservations when they first learned about the fiasco. I think they panicked and did not think the consequences of having to manually go back and reconstruct those ticketed reservations that they promised to honor. I think those with tickets will have to individually call and fix it ourselves rather than depend on OB or CT or AZ. The left hand does not know what the right does ...
It doesn't require hindsight to realize that cancellation of ticketed itineraries was a bad idea. SAS could have told them that. :D

UPS delivered 2 of my 3 tickets in Germany this morning. Called UPS for the missing one: it was missleaded to a wrong zip code in Bremen; it will arrive in my home on tomorrow; they will refund the shipping costs ^ .
Orbitz is actually showing 1 itinerary reinstated. Once all itineraries show up I will try to change the dates of one ticket.

Alright, I talked with my parents, girlfriend, wife, other girlfriend, and trash man and am now ready to book this ticket! However, all I see on Orbits is a ticket for $4216! Is that what I want? If I book that, will I later get refunded the difference between that and the $33 that this ticket should cost? Please help! I've never been to Europe and REALLY want to get in on this!

I HIGHLY reccomend BEY for a few days. Be SURE to check out the Movenpick Resort, the two InterContinetal's, especially the Poniencan, and the LHW Grand Resort BEFORE you make your decisions on BEY.
To get there, fly MEA (Middle East Airlines). They are an incoming SkyTeam Associate member, and they fly a fleet of brand new A321/330's with AVOD in EVERY seat including Y class ansd even on the 321's the operate from LCA. For you big spenders, their C/J class is the sae as AF's current long haul L'Espace Affairs. The flight is 29 minutes in the air!!!!
For those of your worried about secutiry, the Four Seasons Beirut open a 30 story tower in early 2007, so don't worry. Just those of you with an Israeli stamp in your passports might need to recondiser, most unfortuantly (hopefully that will change soon!)
BUT, CHECK IT OUT BEFORE you decied! It's SO much nicer than Ciaro and Amman, and certinalty much nicer than LCA!!!!!

I think using the private jet is a much better option. You can add stopovers wherever you like and don't have to trouble AZ with date changes. I've confirmed with Orbitz that this will work for people with ticket numbers. Just let AZ know where you went after your trip. They'll codeshare all your flights with your airline of choice. Oh and make sure you pay the $33 + taxes. They'll cover the rest.

I purchased tickets through Orbitz on 4/5/06 and received an e-mail confirmation at 12:10 PM ET. The "My Trips" tab contains my itinerary (YYZ-FCO-MXP-LCA-MXP-YYZ) along with ticket #s (beginning with 055) and a record locator. The YYZ-FCO and MXP-YYZ legs are business class (D fare) while the others are economy class (Y fare). The fare rules (DRTCA9) have been changed in Orbitz to eliminate stopovers, but I have a copy of the original fare rules thanks to another FlyerTalker who posted them earlier. The rest of the itinerary appears untouched from the time of booking. While no tracking number appears in Orbitz, I received paper tickets via UPS today. Using the PNR on the paper tickets, I have located my itinerary on www.mytripandmore.com. However it does not appear on www.viewtrip.com or www.virtuallythere.com.
My first option is to increase the amount of time spent at FCO by changing the dates of my itinerary while preserving the current routing. My second option is to increase the amount of time spent at MXP and fly on EasyJet to FCO. If that fails, I would be willing to accept a voucher that would cover the cost of business class from ORD - FCO, while leaving out the LCA portion altogether. While maintaining radio silence, after exhorting others to do likewise, I've seen perhaps two posts about AZ's attempts to offer vouchers rather than reinstatement. However, neither one mentioned the amount offered. My plan is to wait until the furor dies down before attempting the date change through AZ.

I also currently have a 29 hour stop-over at FCO on the way to LCA, and an 18 hour

I too would like a longer Rome stop-over, preferably extending the first one by a
couple of days. But I figure I'll wait a little while as well before bothering AZ
about this.
I would also like to get the LCA-MXP-FCO portions up to C from Y, maybe the

But extra info from AZ would certainly help, certainly in terms of booking hotels.

However, neither one mentioned the amount offered. My plan is to wait until the furor dies down before attempting the date change through AZ.
Do a search for posts in this thread by me. You will see that you won't be able to view your trip on all three sites you mentioned - it depends on which reservation system was used to book your flights. Since you see it on mytripsandmore that means your reservation was booked using Worldspan.
About changing your dates, good luck. There are hundreds of posts here about people wanting to change their dates. Let the dust settle and try in a couple of weeks to change your dates. In any case, be grateful you have tickets at all. If you don't want them, I will take them :) Unfortunately name changes are not allowed.

fairly simple and straightforward for me- got ticket number, ticket was never cancelled- only hassle was not receiving ticket number (had to call in for that). oh yeah, itin shows up on worldspan.

Ok here is something I just thought about. I'm wondering if anyone thinks I will be able to do this. My routing is scheduled to go YYZ-EWR-MXP-LCA well since EWR and JFK are co terminals would I be able to switch my flight to go through JFK without causing it to reprice? I would think so since they are co terminals.
Also did everyones ticket all book into D and Y? Because for my first segment which is on UA codeshare on AC is booked in S. Did this happen to anyone else? Because that will screw my ticket if the most restrictive fares apply. But when I pulled the fare rules for the ticket it said D. Also my return segment is booked correctly on AA in Y.

EWR and JFK are no longer co-terminals for the purpose of fare construction. :(

I never got any ticket numbers but I did get charged. They've since refunded the flight charge but not the taxes/fees/shipping. Kind of funny that they offer no compensation for the screw-up and now I'm going to have to dedicate time to fixing the screw-up. (Might try the offer/acceptance/consideration angle as I didn't ask for a refund and they had charged me...)

You're right....it looks like the 777 operates Sun/Mon/Tue from a quick look at the schedules. I could definitely work with that...

Something weird happened on my end too - after the ticket shows reinstatement its booked in Y class with no restrictions including stopovers allowed. When I log onto orbitz it shows a price of 10,7XXXX. last week when I inquired about this amt they said I would only be charged the orignal amt. Should I push to get into business ( with no stopover allowed) or stay in this class which has all the same rules including the free stopover ?????? I guess I can handle economy - thoughts ????

I've been quitely lurking for the last few days. Two of my tickets (one trip) showed up today - another two are going to be delivered tomorrow. I booked through Orbitz, and have only called them once - today. I had ticket numbers, but no UPS tracking numbers, hence the call.
One of my trip (earlier one booked at about 8:20AM EDT) was cancelled, and is supposed to be restored "soon" and the other was never cancelled and is still showing active.
My sister, not a FTer, also booked a pair of tickets and we think they will also be honored, as they also had ticket numbers. Just thought I'd pass this info on. I'm fine with the dates I selected, but of course, if I could adjust them, I might. I'll wait and see how this plays out.
I already found FF tickets on Delta to/from YYZ two days before and after (what I wanted), and a stopover in ATL to visit my sister.
One question though. I understand reading this thread that one would earn 23K+ miles using Alitalia) or 12K+ using a skyteam partner. But doesn't the MQM bonus of 100% apply for travel if you're Gold or Plat? I read on another thread in the Delta forum that it would, but I thought I would pose this question to the self-interested experts following this thread if they know. In that case, I think I'd earn 20K miles on Delta, and that might be better for me. I know I have months to sort this out - just figured someone might know.
So the question is does Gold/Plat status on Delta garner the 100% bonus on Delta if flying AZ?
Billy
P.S. It looked like things were getting slower anyway - got to keep this active!

The mini-back biz cabin has a more "to your self" feel, but the service seems somewhat less attentitive there. I personally prefer the forward part of the 777 unless that section is full and has people with ants in their pants -- in which case the mini-cabin can be more peaceful (if people from coach don't go back and forward too much).

The 100% Delta Gold/Plate elite bonus applies only to the AZ-operated segments as it seems like the CY-operated, AZ-coded flights may not credit to DL. So YYZ-MXP-YYZ = 20,500 for a DL GM/PM (base miles + 100% Elite Bonus + 50% COS Bonus)
But then those MXP/FCO-LCA-MXP/FCO AZ-coded, CY-operated flights are still left to be credited somewhere (say AZ's program), which in AZ's program amounts for around 6000 miles (base miles + 100% COS Bonus).

For DL GM/PM, the COS bonus does not get doubled; only the base miles travelled get doubled (per the 100% elite bonus).

No charge for the change to D class - the only possible fee involved would be the shipping fees incurred for the to-and-fro of the paper ticket.

Forgive me if this has already been reported upstream.
Here is my situation. I booked on cheaptickets.com. My ticket is in hand. My first and final flights are on AA. They are stil in the record. The Alitalia flights are gone.
I just spoke to cheaptickets (888-922-8849). The agent put me on hold while she spoke to Alitalia. Alitalia says that the flights will be reinstated during the next 2 to 3 days. I am to send an email to internet.services@alitalia.it, giving them my PNR and requesting the reinstatement.
Received tickets last Friday. Called today shortly after 6pm EST. CT agent setup a conference call with AZ from Palermo. Basically AZ agent told CT agent to send an email to their Rome office to reinstate the ticket. The email she gave out was az@us-sales.com which I think is very phony as it obviously not an email for Rome. Also the AZ agent was very rude & nasty. The CT agent took all the heat and was treated as if she's the one who purchased the AZ ticket. I was told to wait 3 businesses and then call back CT for progress.

Now this brings me to something else....
"What do you mean you shipped us you ticket for changes?" "We never received it."
As it sits in 2000 pieces in the basket of a crosscut shredder.
Should this be a concern as we all should have a copy of the original rez showing the ticket numbers anyway?

You would be nuts not to send your ticket back for reissue using a documentable service like Fed Ex, UPS, DHL or USPS certified mail with return receipt requested. Anyone who just sends their paper ticket back to Orbitz, CT, Travelocity or AZ by normal mail deserves to have their paper ticket shredded ;)

I HIGHLY reccomend BEY for a few days. Be SURE to check out the Movenpick Resort, the two InterContinetal's, especially the Poniencan, and the LHW Grand Resort BEFORE you make your decisions on BEY.
I second that. By the way, what is the LHW Grand Resort?
To get there, fly MEA (Middle East Airlines). They are an incoming SkyTeam Associate member, and they fly a fleet of brand new A321/330's with AVOD in EVERY seat including Y class ansd even on the 321's the operate from LCA. For you big spenders, their C/J class is the sae as AF's current long haul L'Espace Affairs. The flight is 29 minutes in the air!!!!
MEA's A330s have AVOD in both J and Y class, however, on the A321s, AVOD is only in J class. The PTVs in Y are a regular broadcast system.
For those of your worried about secutiry, the Four Seasons Beirut open a 30 story tower in early 2007, so don't worry. Just those of you with an Israeli stamp in your passports might need to recondiser, most unfortuantly (hopefully that will change soon!)
There is a big hotel construction boom in Beirut at the moment. The next international brand to open will be Hilton which will open this summer.
The sleek 25-story Four Seasons opens early next year.
Grand Hyatt and Kempinski open in 2008/2009.
Ritz Carlton will very soon be announcing a hotel in Beirut. They are doing the paperwork right now.
Fairmont is in discussions to build a hotel in Beirut as well.
BUT, CHECK IT OUT BEFORE you decied! It's SO much nicer than Ciaro and Amman, and certinalty much nicer than LCA!!!!!
All the people I've met who visited Beirut have all enjoyed it. :)

Ok here's my senario, we booked 2 seperate trips within minutes of each other on Orbitz. They both got ticket numbers. One of the trips showed up as cancelled the next day.....the tickets were both shipped UPS the same day, one set arrived Friday the other set (the ones that showed 'cancelled') have not arrived yet. I spoke to Orbitz and they said that the tickets are on their way and when I get them I need to "take them to an Alitalia agent at the airport and have them revalidated by Alitalia" and they will be fine to use.
Does this sound correct???? If the "cancelled" ones don't arrive what do I do about those?
Thanks everyone for your help

1. Booked tix OK

3. Rez's were then cancelled on Orbitz.com
4. Tix finally arrived this morning (Monday) but was supposed to be overnight UPS.
5. Rez's still show as cancelled on Orbitz.com but appear on worldtraveller.com as OK but the PNR is different from the one printed on the paper tix (I guess they are already reconfirmed in the computer)
I'm going to Vienna tomorrow so I'll stop by the Alitalia desk as I fly out of JFK and will be there for a couple hours (GF dropping me off early before she goes to work). I have both tix in hand so we'll see what they say. Also, mine says "Business Restricted" on them. Finally, I'd like to change the dates (depart a few days early) and also maybe add a long stopover in Rome on the way back. We'll see what they say about this as well.

I would be a bit wary of making the actual changes at the ticket counter - IMHO, you're better off getting a CSR to make the changes and then taking the ticket to the ATO for an even exchange to the new dates.

Has anyone heard anything from travelocity?
I gave them a call today, the CSR mentioned possible "schedule change" and tried to contact AZ but their office was already closed.
AZ has 4 different configurations for their 767 aircraft
Alitalia uses to call its 767 fleet in different ways ("767" ; "762" ; "763" ; "764") to indicate different configurations on aboard, but all the 767 AZ are only 767-300ER aircrafts.
767 stands for standard configuration
762 stands for ex Eurofly aircrafts
763 stands for ex Air Canada aircrafts
764 stands for new configuration
No one defines "new configuration," is it safe to say the "new configuration" has the new J seats?
AZ has 4 different configurations for their 767 aircraft

I've been on at least 3 of the 767 configurations, but none had the seats like those found on AZ's 777 planes.

This is a mess! After seeing my res. intact on Worldspan, I phoned AZ for seat assignments. The agent said she couldn't pull up the seatmap b/c I don't have any AZ flights! So, I called Orbitz, and the agent knew about the situation and said AZ is honoring the tix. and we'll get an e-mail confirmation when the reinstatement has occurred but that they have "no definite timeframe" from AZ as to when this will occur! How ridiculous is that? How long does this freakin' take? An entire work day has passed in Rome, and nothing!
So intact reservations on Worldspan site mean nothing with regards to the current validity of a ticket? That's where I am right now two of three tickets in hand...the last coming tomorrow...the two in hand look fine on worldspan but....
This whole scenario doesn't seem to get any better...maybe next week I try and call to find out?

All the people I've met who visited Beirut have all enjoyed it. :)
Unfortunately, LCA-BEY flights are running about $270 w/taxes. That sure is a lot for a 30 minute, 129 mile, flight. It's cheaper to get to BEY from IST, ATH, or FRA.
But, the Four Points Beirut looks nice and is a cat 2 SPG property.

As I said earlier mine are on Worldspan but not on SABRE or anywhere else. The longer they are taking to reinstate these they are causing more problems for themselves. For instance, my EWR-MXP flight is showing J2D2 and on my record there are 2 people. If 1 person books that seat. Then they are going to have a real problem.
Also for those who are getting there Y's changed to D. It was in Y because your flight was sold out in D when you booked it. So there are going to be alot of upset people when they end up in Y when they were originally in J. I'm feeling like more and more I will be in that 2nd group.

Yes, it is quite expensive. Hopefully in the future it will go down if MEA gets regional jets (which they are considering) to increase frequency on regional routes.

Are you talking about the one in Verdun?
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/fourpoints/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1478
If so, then yes, it is a very nice hotel. It's almost too nice to be a Four Points maybe. :)
It's one of Beirut's newest hotels having opened just in December 2004.
I would highly recommend it. It's in the trendy Verdun area and conveniently located to the Beirut Central District (BCD).
It's one of the more affordable hotels in Beirut since it is 4-stars. Beirut as you know, has many very expensive luxurious hotels and most of the hotels under construction and planned right now are expensive luxurious hotels.

Yes, that's the hotel I was talking about. I went ahead and book a few award nights there, just in case. I'd rather spend 4,000 points for a weekday night than the $200/night that is the going rate.
I've tried looking at other hotel rates, but am not having an easy time because many online travel agent sites do not list many, if any, BEY hotels. Any that you recommend?

They or you will have a real problem if they delay? I think it would be to their advantage at this point to delay as long as possible, so that the J seats gets sold out with *normal* fares.

Sounds like a real good way for AZ to mess this up even more. And it would be interesting to see what -- if anything -- Orbitz, Travelocity and CheapTickets would do if people were downgraded.

I would be a bit wary of making the actual changes at the ticket counter - IMHO, you're better off getting a CSR to make the changes and then taking the ticket to the ATO for an even exchange to the new dates.
i.e. call Orbitz to make date/stopover changes and get Alitalia at the airport to physically print the new tickets?
Yes, that is what is being talked about.

For the a 4-star hotel category, I would also highly recommend the Holiday Inn Dunes which is incorporated in a small shopping mall in the trendy Verdun area as well. It's quite close to the Four Points.
Here is their website:
http://www.holidayinn-dunes.com
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/beyve
The Crowne Plaza is quite nice, though it might be expensive, though I do think they sometimes have good rates. It is classified as a 5-star hotel.
A good 4-star hotel I would recommend is the Monroe Hotel. It's not a chain though. You can see read some reviews here:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g294005-d309307-Reviews-Monroe_Hotel-Beirut.html
It recently completed a renovation. It's very ideally located right on the edge of the Beirut Central District (BCD). It does get overshadowed by the luxurious 5-star InterContinental Phoenicia which is right next door.
Another good 4-star I would recommend is the Riviera Hotel, it's in a beautiful location right on the coast. It's not a chain though, but it is a very nice hotel.
http://www.rivierahotel.com.lb
The Bayview hotel is very nice, though they did some changes to it and it is more of a boutique hotel now, so I think the rates are more expensive than they used to be.
http://www.bayviewhotellebanon.com
I would also recommend looking into the Royal Plaza, it's not a chain, but it is a 5-star and is quite good, though it is more reasonably priced than other 5-star hotels. They might have some good rates. It was a Westin for a while, but they decided to stay a private hotel.
http://www.royalplazahotel.com.lb
The Radisson SAS Martinez is another excellent one, though it is a 5-star hotel, but I think the rates are more reasonable than other 5-star hotels. You might be able to find a good rate.
http://www.radissonsas.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=RadissonSAS/integration/hotelInfo&hotelCode=beyzr&language=en&backURI=/reservation/rateSearch.do&origin=Rates%20And%20Availability
I would say you won't go wrong with either the Four Points Le Verdun or the Holiday Inn Dunes. Both are excellent hotels, belong to internationally recognized chains (so you can earn points in your stays), and are more reasonably priced than Beirut's expensive luxury hotels. The ones I included above though, are also excellent hotels, even the non-chain ones.
There are plenty of other hotels in Beirut, but I think they might be too expensive, especially since I presume you will be visiting Beirut in the summer which is when hotel rates skyrocket.
Beirut has a major shortage when it comes to more affordable 3/4-star hotels. This is because the hotel construction boom has been focusing almost exclusively on expensive 5-star hotels.
MEA's website has a good list of hotels, you might want to check it out.

It's ok to post about this here. :)
Doing it over the phone has a few pluses and fewer negatives than doing it in-person at the ATO. In the extreme, it's less likely that an ATO agent would seize your ticket if another agent has ok'd the changes & exchange already. :D More routinely, if you don't like the answer you get with one phone agent, you can hang up and try again more readily later.

My situation is unique, but seems to have sorted out
1 ticket travelocity.ca
8 tickets CheapTickets
2 tickets Orbitz
Only 2 are for myself, seperate bookings. I couriered them to my Canada address (house I sold last month)
I won't be back to Canada until the 20th
UPS dropped the package on the doorstep
Canada Express Post left a drop card.
Got someone to go past the house and have the UPS (CheapTicket) and have since convinced the Canada Post outlet to hold onto the delivery until the 21st.
Now with that sorted out, we've got one set of 2 CheapTicket bookings CANCELLED. Funny as it's a early booking (When I initially saw the thread, it had only 4 posts, and was still an hour from being able to purchase). Paper tickets arrived last week.
Calls to CheapTickets went well, but the fellow didn't realize he was passing on mis-information. Friendly attitude, he said (after a short wait on hold) that since we have the tickets, we need not re-book, just proceed to check-in at Alitallia and all will be fine.
Well, I don't know about you, but I seem to think you need a ticket and either a booking, or seats available ha ha ha.
Emailed Alitallia as SanDiego1K sugested, and got an auto reply asking for (provided in the reply) a downloaded 'exeption form' to be submitted. My 3G connection via handphone cannot seem to download the form, so I will try from an internet shop later in the day.
So far I've got
relatives all over the country with tickets in hand and reservations in tact.
one booking cancelled with all confidence it will be straightened out
about $20 in International calls (no big deal) made
my own paper tickets safe ~ one with a friend, another at the post station at home
I'd say it's going quite smoothly

Newb here. Been lurking for a while. Was able to get in on this amazing deal. Thanks FT!! And thanks to the OP.
So I got 1 ticket through travelocity.ca and 1 through CT. Booked one on Orbitz, but no ticket number.
Earlier tonight, I called both agencies and AZ. Travelocity says that they haven't reached an agreement with AZ.
CT had my itin reinstated and was able to confirm seats through AZ. Isn't showing up on AZ website, but is showing up on viewtrip.com. If you're having trouble with CT, call CS, say you were disconnected, and ask to get connected to the exchange desk. Of course, do this 9-5 EST so they can contact AZ.
However, despite what is being posted here, I was told by all three that any changes at all to the tickets will force a reprice.
Am I being lied to or is this infact true? People on here say that they were able to make changes, but they haven't actually flown these and they all seem to have gone through Orbitz.
Is there some strategy that I should take to try to get changes, part. w/ CT? They of course bounced responsibilty to each other.
I only want to change dates, not routings. Mostly so I can extend my X in FCO to an O and push back my dept. date from MXP. I would go to an AZ office, but currently I'm in PDX till June for school when returning to JFK.
Also, any ideas for someone who can't rent a car to get to YYZ by flying into BUF (sooooo much cheaper) without having to stay overnight in Toronto, or alternatively, any ideas for hostels near YYZ that can be reached by public transit? Thanks for the help.

Booked via Travelocity.ca and have contacted them twice -- once by phone to ask for the AZ PNR- no problem all okay, and then yesterday by email to again ask for the AZ PNR received about two hours later-- have PNR and then called AZ (UK) to add FF # -- no problem- added, and now I see that the credit card charge has gone through:
Spoke again to AZ (UK) and for MilleMiglia members, you cannot retrieve your booking via the AZ website "as the booking is made via a travel agent, so changes etc must go through them", but I was reassured all is good and FF ~ is there too>

so that it does not become 'lost'.
You only have to skim through the Japan hotel deal mega threads to see that the same advice on Tokyo gets asked again and again – anything meaningful and useful is almost impossible to retrieve once you actually need it.
I know that this thread feels a little like a micro-community within FT, but please post useful information on LCA, onward flights etc within the relevant forums. You will almost certainly be extremely glad you did so in a few weeks or so when trying to piece together a workable itinerary.
And the information will also be out there for anyone else who needs it – so don’t be selfish! :p :D

Yes, I got the same answers from AZ CSR in Sales that was very familiar with the situation. If you have a physical ticket, you are confirmed. According to the CSR it is a contract and will be absolutely honored. It will take them about 10-14 days (??) to fully fix all the cancelled segments since they have so many resevations to fix. They are doing it by ascending departure dates. I queried her about the risk that the seats would not be available when they got to my reservation and she assured me that would not be the case since they have accounted for these D class seats. I didnt ask if changes are allowed since I got the exact dates I wanted. I had CT put a note in my PNR regarding this conference call.
PS. I also find that calling CT at this hour gets good results. Calls and transfer are answered very quickly.

Me too!
I had just returned from A trip to BKK/NRT, and so Sunday night at 2330 was my first call to CT. Someone picked up on the first ring after I selected from the menu! She was helpful--she was vaguely trying to help me, fumbling about a bit--until she finally realized, "Ohhhhhh, you're one of the A-Li-Ta-iiiiiii-ah tickets!" Kinda like, a-ha! :)
And then she was clearly reading from a script--or at least was very familiar with what was happening.
Very friendly, offered to document our conversation that she said my tickets will be confirmed, said to call back in a few days to be sure of it. I'm not sweating it out too much.
BTW, if you are interested in putting your miles into NWA and think that NWA won't credit them because the ticket is from CT, I called the Plat Elite line and was told, quite clearly, that these should be no problem: I was asked for the Flight, Date, and Fare Basis. He put me on hold for about 5 minutes, and came back to tell me that "Usually CT puts a TA designator on the fare basis, and then we can't accept the miles. A normal fare basis has about 6 digits, but when it's a special CT fare, it'll have a slash, then a few more digits. This one is just, DRTCA9, with no slash after it. On this, since there is nothing after the fare basis, you should have no problems." He said he'd checked with the experts in Chisholm, where the program is based.
I will fax in the ticket copy to Chisholm to confirm this, and update you here.

I got charged CAD 84.50 to send three tickets to my home in YOW. This was made up of USD28.97 service fee and USD41.95 processing fee according to the Orbitz receipt.

I had soemthing similar happen to me. I had three sets of tickets couriered to YOW. There were six charges on my creidt card from Orbitz; looked like three each for the tickets and shipping. The shipping was quite high if I can remember.
However, now when I look at my statement online I see SEVEN charges from Altialia directly that seem to roughly correspond to the price of each ticket (I bought seven tickets). The original charges from Orbitz are still there but the three which I thought were for the tickets are still only temporary charges.
Here's what it looks like now:
04/06/2006 04/05/2006 4428 MC C ORB*TU5PJ1TM - WWWORBITZCOM IL $73.84
04/06/2006 04/05/2006 2034 MC C ORB*8S73G1M4 - WWWORBITZCOM IL $71.46
04/06/2006 04/05/2006 4040 MC C ORB*TU5SU4RB - WWWORBITZCOM IL $85.75
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0480 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $168.91
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0498 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $168.91
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0977 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $209.86
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0985 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $209.86
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0910 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $222.64
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0928 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $222.64
04/07/2006 04/05/2006 0936 MC C ALITALIA - MANKATO MN $222.64
Has this happend to anyone else?
I assume this will work itself out in the end.
PS, I have ticket numbers and tickets in hand for all seven tickets.

I have received my tickets today.....now I called Orbitz and the supervisor told me that I have to call the airline to have my 2 tix reinstated. After reading all the postings on here, it seems like everyone is hearing something else. How is everyone proceeding in order to get the tickets reinstated? Call the airline? wait a few days? Call orbitz again? Should I just sit tight with my tix in hand until the "storm" has passed? ;)

I just realized my mistake. The three smaller fess which I thought were for shipping are actually an adjustment because of the Canadian dollar. The original charges are for the same amount in Canadian dollars what Orbitz quoted me in US dollars. And the shipping fee is included in that.

I would be a bit wary of making the actual changes at the ticket counter - IMHO, you're better off getting a CSR to make the changes and then taking the ticket to the ATO for an even exchange to the new dates.
Could you elaborate? do you think taking the tix to the counter will make something bad happen?
I am wondering because I will be in YYZ next week and I was thinking of trying to get my seat assignments fixed while I'm there.
Can they take the tickets and keep them? That seems unlikely but I'm sure your concern is for a good reason.

All they keep telling me is that I have to wait untill they get them all reinstated. No one mentioned to call Alitalia. It just pisses me off that they all keep passing the buck and no one is willing to step up to the plate and get these reinstated.

I am so damn fed up with cheaptickets. 3 times on hold with them, get a supervisor - go to link in with Alitalia (this last time it took 45 minutes) - every damn time that Alitalia is linked into the call they cut me off
Absolute donkey droppings.

Dear 0zenon0 -- seems there are several YOW-based FTers who got in on this deal. Is yours a pary of 7, or are you travelling 7 times? What dates? I travel in Nov for Mme13F's b-day.

How does the over/under of 37 (or something like that) look for April 10, 2006? :D
Thirteen FTers posted yesterday on FT saying that their tickets were received on April 10, 2006. So the under wins. One person had taken the over, but the house wins again.
Of course some people, like myself, received their tickets yesterday but didn't report this on FT yesterday.

Maybe that's their aim ... to get you so fed up that you would give up and ask for a refund ... ;)

Well hopefully my tickets show up today. My last scan shows they left Orlando at 7:30pm last night and that's the last scan. But scheduled to be delievered today. All I can say that's the longest trip from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale ever recorded. I hate UPS.
I would say this has more to do with Orbitz or CT than UPS. I got mine on Thursday.

Yep, I'm getting pretty frustrated, too...Thursday they said it would be done by Friday...Friday they said it would be done by Saturday...Saturday they said by Monday, and Monday they said "it'll take some time"...Now, from what I am reading, it may take WEEKS to get this sorted out????
I've had the last two CT agents call Alitalia, and do not understand why they can't take two seconds to reinstate WHILE I'M ON THE PHONE. How difficult *is* that, seriously? They've already pulled everything up, so just how many more keystrokes is it to reinstate????
My paper tickets ended up back at CT...at CT's request, but the tracking info says *I* refused them and it's confusing the CT agents. I'm sick of explaining it to them. And now I won't be getting them back until this is all sorted out. If ever...
I don't usually throw tantrums but I feel like I'm getting the run around.
