View Full Version : Late, Late check out in LV?

So we're on a redeye leaving LV next weekend (late Sunday night, technically Monday morning at 1am...). Our hotel checkout is Sunday at noon (my friend booked a room at the Mandalay Bay). I just realized that it might make sense to try and get a late checkout, so that we can lounge out by the pool until early evening.

Has anybody had success with getting a late (4-5pm?) checkout? Some might say get a room for another night, but if there's a different way (perhaps paying $50 or so for a day rate?)
Thanks for any insight!

just ask when you check-in. generally it's no problem but they do need to know up front (and if you want to keep playing for a bit after you've checked out, leave your bags with the bell desk)

I have the same situation this coming weekend, early Sunday morning at 1AM. My deal is that I basically have the room for the day --- actually, I don't really ever check out... instead my host checks me out the following day... works great just in case I accept a bump or decide to stay longer at the last minute.

IMHO, the latest you will be able to extend check-out on a regular reservation will be 4PM --- of course, you should inquire about the later check-out... and if it is a comp room, getting a check-out for very late on Sunday (basically extending till Monday) shouldn't be a problem, since Sunday night is a very inexpensive night (in comparison to Fri. and Sat. night)

Yeah, I think you better right about their bags must to leave with the bell desk when his or she is leaving from hotel. I can't recall about hotel rules you must to stay in the room or go take a nice walk in Las Vegas Blvd. There is lot of good store on the right side with Coca Cola & M&M stores, too. I remember when I been there in LAS last year in late December 2005. If you want take on express tram from Mandalay Bay all the way to the another hotel. I am always to take on express tram from Mandalay Bay to another hotel in the end of the lines.

Another option is to get a spa day pass. At most places it's good the entire day, and you have an assigned locker, so it's easy to store some clothing and freshen up later in the day.

In the event that the front desk doesn't give you late check out - always try your casino host. We had a late flight out and he was able to give us 7 p.m. checkout (could have gotten later if we wanted it).

When I stayed at Mandalay Bay, the "late checkout" wasn't that late; there was an option to rent a room for the day ending in the early evening, that option may be available for you as well.

Just an update - we stayed at TheHotel @ Mandalay Bay. Checkout time was 11:00am. We asked for a late checkout, and were offered a complimentary late 1:30PM checkout. We were also offered (and ended up taking) a half-day rate for $99, which allowed us to check out at 6PM.
