Guess farealert is good for something:

The Hilton Osaka (Japan) is offering Executive Rooms for around 250-350 JPY per night (about $3 USD). Both Executive Twin and Executive King rooms are available for many nights between now and the end of 2006. It looks like you need to include a weekend in order to book this low rate. You must include both a Friday and Saturday night in order to book this. In order to book this rate, visit Travelocity.com, click the "Hotel" tab, enter your dates (you must include a Friday and Saturday night in your reservation), and "Japan" as the country and "Osaka" as the city, and click the "Search Hotels" button.

You will not see the low rate listed in the rates for the Hilton Osaka, but you will see it listed as an "Executive Choice" rate with the disclaimer "Nightly rate changes". If you click the "Nightly rate changes" link, you will see the low rate, and if you click "Select", you'll be able to book it.

Booked for May 4-10 for JPY1503 (Approx $15CAD) and got a confirmation number instantly.....

If Hilton doesn't honour this..... hopefully the TL guarantee will kick in :D

Booked for August 20-27, Exec King for 2 people at JPY2486 total.

Man, I hope they honor it because it really makes up my mind about where I'm going for summer break ;)

I don't think it's a prepaid rate, I think it's just a reservation. Take a look at these terms:

Just a heads up~when you agree to the hotel policies, you're agreeing to the higher rates (it's all in that box). For example, I checked for Thanksgiving week, and get the low rate to show, but this comes up in the "Agree to Hotel Policies" box:

Room/Rate Code Policy
KING EXECUTIVE ROOM SPECIAL EXEC FLOOR RATES AND
BENEFITS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
34650 PER NIGHT STARTING 22NOV06
40425 PER NIGHT STARTING 25NOV06
34650 PER NIGHT STARTING 26NOV06
TAXES AND SERVICE CHARGES INCLUDED

So....I would think this gives them an 'out' to charge you the entire amount. Then again, it's not Expedia...

Got it for May 27-June 5 (7 nights altogether). Almost booked it through the AMEX site, but decided to just go to Travelocity (who runs the AMEX site).

But it's not a prepaid thing, so I doubt this will be ok in the end.

It seems to be a Saturday thing with the Hilton Osaka. I am on this one through Travelocity. Lets see what comes out of it.

But based on the rules on the rates, it looks like they could get an out on it. Next week should be fun in following up with this.

I expect them to handle this one properly as well.

Cancellation is 6pm of date of arrival.

I just booked 2 weeks in October (first week under my name, second under my BFs). Fingers crossed that this goes through, since we were planning to be in Japan anyway, and this will obviously save us a LOT on the hotel costs!!!

It was Expedia. Some who got a verbal re-confirmation over the phone got to go, rest had to be contended with the reservations being "successfully" cancelled by Expedia.

Cancellation is 6pm of date of arrival.
I'd also like to note that the cancellation is free of charge.

And I was just able to change my reservation to a week later. Originally made it during a friend's wedding (I've known this person since the 6th grade so obviously that wouldn't fly).

I like the fact that it´s on Travelocity. They have the great guarantee.

"Human error happens; nobody's perfect--but in those rare cases that we make a mistake you can count on us to take responsibility for it, and to be thoughtful and fair as we work to resolve it. If, say, we inadvertently advertise a fare that's just "too good to be true," like a free trip to Fiji, we'll work with you and our travel partners to make it up to you and find a solution that puts a smile on your face. "

I could get it from Dec 23rd 06 to Jan 1st 07 for 0JPY as mentioned. Guess it requires the same Fri/Sat night stay?

The difference between Hilton and Ramada is that the Ramada rates show 16/12/14 per night whereas the Hilton still showed 28875 JPY per night. So IMO Ramada might be a safer bet/standby to the HILTON.

Odds are we'll know within a week if they are honoring it...after they pull the rate everyone will start to confirm their reservations, and then compare responses.

Hi gang.

I have a couple of reservations as well (take the word 'reservations' as you would like) in Hilton Osaka and Hyatt Kyoto.

I called Travelocity and asked that they send me a confirmation email (besides the one that was 'auto-sent). The emails that were sent are the same ones as if you were to 'send itinerary to friend', etc.

Anyway......I pulled this up from Travelocity 'guarantee'....

Human error happens; nobody's perfect--but in those rare cases that we make a mistake you can count on us to take responsibility for it, and to be thoughtful and fair as we work to resolve it. If, say, we inadvertently advertise a fare that's just "too good to be true," like a free trip to Fiji, we'll work with you and our travel partners to make it up to you and find a solution that puts a smile on your face.

Bit vague, but we shall see.......

The hotel and flight were not booked together on Travelocity, hence it is a risk you take.

what happens to those of us who book a plane ticket and then they change the hotel rate?

Human error happens; nobody's perfect--but in those rare cases that we make a mistake you can count on us to take responsibility for it, and to be thoughtful and fair as we work to resolve it. If, say, we inadvertently advertise a fare that's just "too good to be true," like a free trip to Fiji, we'll work with you and our travel partners to make it up to you and find a solution that puts a smile on your face.

Bit vague, but we shall see.......

Looks quite promising though

City/Mount Fuji view. 60000 Yen and 65000 Yen per night seems to work for me. The room rate must change during your stay.

Nov I cannot get anything work at Park. got IC Yokohama down.

I got July and Nov bookings for Hilton Osaka, jsut want to add Tokyo to the Osaka bookings.

One thing though, I am not too optimistic as these are not pre-paid rates and the details of the hotel rates are all correct rates, only Travelocity screwed up on their own page.

EDIT: Got Park - dlx King, no breakfast included - has to look for those with "nightly rate changes" rates - only those work, it seems.

Dont know how much Park would offer for breakfast - as a Diamond, the complimentary continental breakfast delivered to room with lots of fanfare and very little substance - a tiny cup of oj, tea / coffee, butter/jam, one croissant, one danish, and that is it ! they do have a very nice table set up with fresh rose in vase, white linen, silver cuttlery etc ... but you will still be very hungry after that ... :-)

Should we book the non-refundable rates if we can get them?

If it is prepaid, does travelocity charge the card or does the hotel do the advanced charge?

I should think that a "Homeless Nomad Wandering the Globe" should be able to find things to do in that area for 10 days. What with all the cash you're saving on hotel rooms, you should be able to take the bullet train to places far away for day trips. :)

So... room should be $600 USD per night according to some quick calculations... room isn't being charged by Travelocity but the hotels...

I'm assuming the same for the other Hilton and other hotels listed in this thread...

With the hotels being in Japan albeit based on US chains.. is Travelocity liable for keeping these rates since they were advertised for the "much" lower rates?

I got in on the Fiji $150 flights earlier last year and they honored it but then later went back on them...

Would assume someone at Travelocity is seeing a "remarkable" spike in hotel reservations for Japan today and wondering what's happening...

I'm in no way paying full rates for this trip and would hope that if they are going to cancel these reservations, they'd offer full cancellation with no charges on cancellations...

For those having problems, you really need to follow the instructions carefully (at least until you get the hang of it). As of 30 seconds ago rooms were still available for some random dates I picked in September. They key thing to remember is that you're looking for those rooms where the rate changes, then expanding from there.
