I'll be visiting San Francisco later this year. Which restaurant do you consider to have the best steak in town? (I'll be staying at the Westin.)
So far, I've recommendations for:
- Harris'
- ACME Chophouse
- Izzy's Steaks and Chops
- House of Prime Rib
- Morton's the Steakhouse
Are there any other recommendations?
Thanks.

Tis a funny thing, but Scoma's has a most wonderful steak.
It's a fish place. They even have their own boat. Normally ordering steak at a fish place is a big no-no, but not here. Scomas doesn't have a large selection of steaks, but what they have are very, very tasty.

on your list, i haven't been to ACME, but of the other 4 i coincidentally would rank them as you have listed them.

I still always enjoy the place my parents picked for special occasions - Alfred's. (http://www.alfredssteakhouse.com/) My wife and I usually opt for the Chateaubriand and a Caesar made tableside.
I have been eating there for nearly 60 years through two locations, and have never been disappointed in the food or service. I am a little disappointed there is no longer a dress code. It also has a fine selection of Scotch whiskeys.
Not exactly the hot new restaurant, more like venerable. Very much old San Francisco.

Hey, by Izzy's, do you mean that place right next to 101 and south of the airport? It never occurred to me that it might be a REAL restaurant, if that's the one, I'll try it!

If it doesn't stop raining here you won't have to worry. We'll all be on the ark on the way to New Zealand :D

and what am I thinking... El Raigon (http://www.elraigon.com/)! Excellent, excellent beef.
El Raigón, an Argentine steak house, opened in the heart of North Beach at 510 Union Street, between Grant and Stockton.
Specializing in “Estancia” style range raised beef - cooked in house on a charcoal grill- El Raigón also offers a distinctive menu of traditional dishes influenced by Argentina’s Italian and Spanish roots with an emphasis on locally grown beef, lamb, fish, organic produce, flavorful sauces and fabulous desserts.
Close to Washington Square but far enough off Columbus to be a stand alone destination, El Raigón features exposed brick, rustic wooden beams, black and white toned photographs reflecting Argentine’s countryside and a redwood standup bar where guests can watch chef Eric Hollis at work.
The inspiration for this unique Bay Area venture is a 17,000 acre working ranch, called Estancia El Raigón (which means “The Big Root Ranch” – as in a tree root), in the province of Entre Rios, Argentina owned by Wil Harris, one of El Raigón’s three partners. The highly successful estancia not only sends 1000 steers to market annually, but also hosts sporting visitors who come to fish, hunt and enjoy the local gourmet fare and gracious hospitality that San Francisco’s mini- version will reflect.
With Alberto Lataliste of Gaucho Imports Fine Wines, and Argentine born local TV personality and actress Consuelo Lyonnet rounding out the management partnership, El Raigón features an exceptional selection of Argentine and California wines and a warm and inviting service. Lataliste worked for many years at family owned nightclubs in Buenos Aires, Marbella & Madrid before moving to San Francisco and getting involved in wine imports. Lyonnet, who trained at the exclusive Hotel do Frade & Golf Resort in Brazil manages the front of house operations.

ACME, without a doubt. All food is natural and local, from organic farms. The steaks are excellent. And the best part (being the loyal Giants fan I am) is that is has a private express entrance to the park. Have a great meal then take in a game!

Its right next to the San Carlos Airport, and pretty good. Ironically, I live in Redwood Shores but never tried it until recently.
There is also one in the city, as well as Corte Madera.

The Chron came out with their Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants today. Of the restaurants posted here so far, El Raigón and House of Prime Rib were also on the Chronicle list.
