I have tried to assimilate the various threads; however, my query pertains to whether there is any utility in boarding the train(ordinary JR, not NEX), from Narita station as opposed to NRT. In other words, in the morning, are we better served originating from the town, as opposed to the airport. If so, does the Narita Hilton provide a shuttle to the nearest railway station, and if not, how far would it be in time and distance by taxi. Thanks for your assistance

I don't know about shuttle service by the Narita Hilton, but if you are departing from Narita town, I'd recommend taking a Keisei Limited Express (or even the Keisei Skyliner, which stops in Narita town, if you want truly rapid service at a higher price) over the JR Sobu Rapid line. Kesei Narita is only a few hundred yards from JR Narita station. The Keisei Skyliner from Narita town is Y1500-1700; the Keisei Limited Express is less than Y1000.

You can then get off at Nippori and switch to the JR Yamanote line to Shinjuku.

This would be preferable to going back to Narita airport.

I can't work out what you're trying to do. Can you give more background?
In particular, I don't understand why you are staying at the Narita Hilton. I would only consider staying at the airport hotels if I were flying out of Narita Airport the next day. YMMV.

Regarding the "utility" of trains - Ordinary JR trains are cheaper than N'EX, but take longer. Are you looking to save money?

Hilton's website indicates that there is a shuttle bus from the Narita Hilton to Narita City railway station... but I think this would be an awful way to try to get to the Tokyo Hilton. (Local train takes longer and requires you to change trains in Tokyo to get to Shinjuku)

I would advise skipping the Narita Hilton altogether - just go straight to the Tokyo Hilton. (But maybe you have some reason that you have to be at the Narita Hilton).

If you have to go from Narita Hilton to Tokyo Hilton - an easier way would be to take the shuttle bus to Narita Airport and then take the Limousine bus direct to the Tokyo Hilton. Alternatively shuttle bus to Narita Airport and then the Narita Express to Shinjuku and then the shuttle bus (or a taxi) from Shinjuku station.

I think these sound like the better routes--I wouldn't want to deal with the Yamanote line with luggage.

We took the N'Ex from NRT Terminal 2 direct to Shinjuku a couple weeks ago... then hopped in the Hilton shuttle at Shinjuku station. Totally painless and very little schlepping of bags. On the train, there's luggage storage behind the last row of seats. It worked out great. Just make sure you're looking for the Hilton bus outside at Shinjuku station, by the department store, and one level above ground level.

The Hilton shuttle stops at bus stop 21 at Shinjuku station. Take the WEST exit from Shinjuku station (which is different than CENTRAL WEST), and then past the exit take an escalator up to street level, exit the station, and turn left.

I have dealt with the Yamanote line from Nippori with baggage several times. There is an escalator up from the Keisei line tracks but only a staircase down to the Yamanote line. I generally found seating at Nippori. It wasn't bad, but maybe I am too used to Tokyo.
