But it's not exactly what you might think. ;)

I was on a flight the other day. The F FA handed out the standard F Gold Mix along with the drinks and the packages were quite warm. She put them in the galley oven and warmed them up for everyone. While I actually like this mix, they tasted even better a little bit warm. It was a nice touch.

I complimented her on her initiative and she remarked, with a big smile, "we may as well use those ovens for something." Indeed. It earned her a A&B; sometimes it's the little things. . .

Awesome!

But I thought the A&Bs were all expired?

A FA told me that they have until 03/31 to turn them all in, so I guess not yet!

I thought this was such a great program which truly demonstrated a very small way that the everyday consumer could reward the employee behind the good deed. Wish they could find something that worked for the new company

Wow, did I miss the memo on this? I've not seen anything that says they have discontinued the program and I knew from a post last year that they had until the following year to turn them in. I still have about 15 of them in my bag that I'll just start handing out if and when my company decides to let me board a plane again :)

They really need to add something to market first class... I mean if they want people to pay extra.. maybe something to make it special (kinda like what Doubletree does).....

Short flights - plate of cookies
Medium flights - choice of warm cookies/brownies and milk (or coffee)

Or something to show that you are going to a haven away from the normal flight... never know if a small investment would change the perception?

Flying SLC-PHX yesterday in 1A and being in a somewhat funny mood I threw the flight attendant for a loop:

f/a: "sir, can I get you something to drink"?

me: "I'll have the chicken caesar salad please"

The look on her face was priceless. Even the dude next to me quietly chuckled

^ :D

AS does the warm cookies on certain flights. However, it is exactly one cookie per person -- whether you are flying F or Y. I often wondered why AS couldn't cater 2 cookies per person in F. In Y, the cookie substitutes for the peanut/pretzel service.

The problem is that the actual catering cost can be larger than you would think.

One extra customer equals a LOT of extra cookies.

AZ, I clicked on the link thinking you ran into turbulance while drinking hot coffee. :D

I wonder if we had the same FA on difference flights. I recently encountered the same. Of course I felt doubly happy since I paid for my F since I have hit only one UG in 30 flights this year. The influx of CPs from US has really crimped HP.

US used to serve freshly-baked cookies in domestic FC. Those days are probably long gone, though. :(

(I've since discovered that I have a condition called celiac disease, though, so the presence of warm cookies to me would just be an annoyance anyway ;) )

Speaking of days long gone, I can remember when HP used to have an ice cream sundae cart in F for long haul flights. Those were the days...

If you want to take the "way back time machine..." I remember when HP used to have unlimited free alcoholic beverages in Y. My wife and I used to wonder why anyone would follow the cattle call to the Heifer Hauler when HP had free drinks AND reserved seating.

Try UA F on transcon (any coast to coast, not just the premium service) or International, or mainland to Hawaii, or Int'l business, and enjoy an ice cream sundae.
