YYC-YWG

Only 5 flights per day - every time I've been on board, they are really busy, they need more.

They need a 16:00 ish departure, gets you back to YWG around dinner. The current double up at 19:00 and 19:35 are useless.

YWG-YYC

Again -- need another flight

Last departure out of there is 17:00. Need a later flight back to YYC.

An evening connection YYZ-YOW (as mentioned in another thread).

A Sunday evening flight YYC-YOW (currently only 6x per week).

Although still plenty of time I think to actually make it there, remember that YYZ has its laughable landing restrictions at midnight. The last planes out of Alberta leave at 5:30-5:45 pm because of that. So that may be part of the reason.

...a 5:30 flight ex YWG arrives in YYZ circa 9:00 pm. WestJet could have another flight about 7:00/7:30 pm.

Exactly. A 10:00pm arrival allows for a 10:30 departure to YOW/YUL. These late departures that allow connections are missing from YEG/YYC and YWG. AC has such connections.

No need for those kind of restrictions out in Edmonton, no one around that airport to disturb. Except the livestock of course. :D

That's why our airport's outsourced to Leduc! ;)

That's why YOW should be used. It has no curfew.

With 7 more 737-600's to be delivered this year there is a lot of opportunity to re-jig capacity on some of our routes. Your wants may very well come true, and starting a thread to discuss and point them out isn't a bad idea.

Some more destinations would also be nice.

Stay tuned. ;)

Some of you may notice that the last few posts have been deleted. The reason for deletion was that they were off-topic. Discussion about other FTers is not the topic. It is also not appropriate to respond to off-topic posts by chiding other posters for being thread hijackers. A "report post" action is sufficient to get the attention of a moderator.

Topic is: WestJet schedule

Yes, it's a great time to run cargo operations and for the American carriers to come in from their hubs thus allowing plenty of connections from the US in the late afternoon or evening including the non-stop HP red-eye from LAS.

Carefuf, just because you're the censor doesn't allow you to attack YEG off-topic ;) and forget that YYZ is actually outsourced to Downsview.

Yes, damn inconsiderate of the 8 million folks who live on the glide paths of the airport in Mississaugua, Etobicoke and Woodbridge! They should have built that new airport in the middle of Pickering township so it'd be as convenient as YEG and YHZ are to their respective cities.

Poor 8 million people who decide to live in the centre of the universe.

No sympathy here.

But, I do have to give it to the old mayor of Mississauga for being such an effective *****.

I bet the airport was there before 7.9 million of those folks. First come first served...the rest shouldn't have moved close to the airport.

Has anyone seen the horrible connection on Westjet (YYC-MCO)! They want you to leave in the afternoon, arrive in YYZ sit there overnight till 10am the next day and arrive in MCO in the afternoon next day? Who are they kidding!

Unlike some airlines, ;) , expand when profitable, not expand to become profitable.

I remember 10 years ago when people wanted more YYC-YVR as it was 2x daily. It's 12 times daily now.

How about getting WS back into YBR (Brandon)? Such as from YYC, YWG.

Any thoughts on this actually happening?

Cheers

Does anyone see WJ operating from Red Deer in the next couple of years... although they would have to use the airport on the south end of the city (towards Penhold), that is still much closer than YYC/YEG. Perhaps a daily turn to YVR to start? Thoughts?

They would need some longer runways, so either WJ or the Red Deer Airport Authority would have to invest a bunch of $ in concrete, likely not going to happen.

The wonderful people of Red Deer can just do the short drive to YEG (shorter than to YYC) and take all the great WJ flights from there.

Regional 1 tried routes from Red Deer to YVR about 1.5-2 years ago and failed... but they were new and were an unknown. If WJ was to start if could be different due to the brand recognition.

Not sure if runway length is so much an issue versus the condition of them, IIRC I had heard somewhere that the runways are not in that great of condition and need some major repair.

You can fly scheduled from Red Deer right now!!

I think they may only fly to Edmonton though even though their website lists a bunch of cities.

Just checked their schedule and it's Red Deer to Grande Prairie with onward connections to Fort St. John , Ft. Nelson and High Level! Interesting route to say the least obviously catering to the oilfield service industry.
