Anyone have good mileage run ideas fr Beijing or Shanghai on UAL? Most good runs on UAL seem to originate out of HKG.

I guess you haven't checked united.com (http://www.cn.united.com/) recently: PVG-ORD for y3000; 2-day minimum; doesn't get much better than that.

Holy smoke, a bare $375 that's really a good price I would say @:-) ^ :-:

For those who have done MRs into China, how do you handle the visa requirement? Do you need one, since you are not actually entering China?

If you fly to SH, you probably don't need a visa because of the liberal transit reqs, but the letter of the law says the you need to be going onward to a 3rd country so I wouldn't chance it.

BTW, this thread pertains to ex-China fares, which are cheap now, and make for good MRs. But, the stuff from the US isn't so hot so there's no need to get excited.

Actually I did see this, but I didn't have much luck finding any dates available for that fare. I should also mention that I was hoping to find a flt in March, when I both have the time to make a MR and also when UAL is giving me 4x the miles I fly as a bonus for making more than 50k miles last year. The fare you cite is good only in April

Thanks for the idea though.

BTW, re the transit question, I would NOT try to transit in Beijing without a Visa. I don't see how you can get to the checkin counter in the Beijing airport without going through Immigration. I do see a visa counter in the BJ airport just before immigration, but in the 50 or so times I have passed by, I have never seen anyone manning it.

There aren't any dates in March with L class open at this point, but that can always change during the last 2-3 days before the flight.

I've been in email contact with a guy at UA who has been very helpful at finding me dates that work (so I don't have to toil around on ual.com); he even lets me know when more seats are released in relevant classes. His address:

Duet.Jiang AT united.com

BTW, once they add in the tax and fuel surcharge, y3000 turns into y4500.

I would like to choose PVG.
Current good MR from PVG:
AA: RMB2800($350)+tax(~$200), PVG-ORD
RMB3900($487)+tax(~$200), PVG-anywhere in US
NW:RMB2900($362)+tax(~$200), PVG-LAX/ORD

Hello, I am relatively new to this. Where could I find fares (oneworld) from PVG that are that low? I have gone on AA's and other OW websites, and there didn't seem to be any special offers.

Are there any websites that are particularly good for ex-China esp. ex-PVG flights? Any pointers on this is much appreciated!

shanghaiman,
You might consider using www.farecompare.com (http://www.farecompare.com/maps/compareDestinations.html?departure=SHA) and trying AA.com's flexible date search feature. BTW, all of this information (and more) is available in the sticky threads at the top of each forum.
