Any thoughts on if it is worth it? That's 6 cents a mile, though it is without having to fly those miles...

Didn't they just do a non qualifying miles option as well for 10K miles?

Out of curiosity, are the 5K miles usuable as well or are they ONLY status miles?

I'm thinking that I'm borderline for Platinum or possibly CP, so it may be worth it to combine these miles with the 10K from the credit card.

Yeah, I'm finding this quite tempting -- since I fly mostly internationally, I get *G club access much of the time. But the 5,000 preferred miles almost make it worth it. I'm gonna have to look at my travel to see if I'm going to be close to Plat this year...

Me too. But 5k EQM, 900 RDM for $300 is tempting. Also, I could then use the US club in LAS (home) on days where I am flying UA metal all the way. I may just have to think this one over a bit.
