Was on a non-stop to San Fran last night from Pitt. I was seated at the back. Immediately after the boarding process was complete, this woman sitting in the front of the aircraft got up and came all the way to the back. I didn't think much of it because I thought she was making a quick trip to the toilet. 5 minutes later, I noticed her standing in the aisle talking to a guy one row behind me on the other side. Her voice which was initially inaudible started getting louder and emotional. From the looks of it, the guy was her boyfriend who had just dumped her. She was like "I never thought you would dump me like this for another woman.. you @#$%*&*...... yada, yada, yada..". All along the guy remained indifferent and didn't speak a word. She even kicked him a couple of times and started weeping. At this point, all the other passengers sitting around had their attention drawn to this. And soon enough, there were at least 2-3 announcements from the crew asking for all passengers to take their seats.. the last one being pretty stern and obviously directed. The woman finally relented and went back to her seat. (I think the guy must have switched his seat when he checked in.. they were probaly together before that.) There was no more drama for the rest of the long ... flight..

Anybody experienced similar things on a plane before? Obviously this one wasn't that serious (it was just her bad luck that they broke up at that inopportune moment.. and her reaction was but natural)..

What a moron!

Never ever break up with the person you are about to share a plane trip with. This is like that seinfeld episode. Although probably not that funny. If I were the FA I would have tried to give her an upgrade. That must have been one of the worst flights of her life. :(

Man needs to learn to get PNR split, then find an alternate routing. Then drop the bomb. :D

Bad form.

Friend of mine at another airline had a similar situation. She was checking a man and a lady in when she asked for their passports. Well the lady there wasn't the same lady in the PNR. Turned out the romantic trip to Rome was originally for the man and his mistress. This was his wife. He got so angry at my friend because she kept trying to figure out where the person in the PNR was, not to be nosy, just to get all the passport info in the record. Surprisingly they still went on the trip, I just couldn't imagine that plane ride.

Havn't had a situation like that but I was on a WN flight (pre-9/11) and the pax's behind me were ingaging in some oral fun below the waist without a blanket to try to hide it. Pilot had to come out and threaten to strap them to seats to keep them off each other. This was a fairly forward way to join the mile high club. Thought that was what the lavatories were for!!!

That is really wierd most pilots I know would ask them to move the action to the cockpit. :D

Why should she get an upgrade? Maybe she was a ..... and her boyfriend couldn't take it any more.

Yesterday (3/13) we were about to take off from MSP to PHL, when the FA jumped out of her flight seat and screamed exactly that, "All passengers, please take your seats right now!"

I turned behind me to see a very obviously Middle Eastern looking man opening a a storage bin. Don't think anybody on that plane missed the implications of that. Wonder if her reaction would have been as shrill had the person looked a little less ethnic.

If it was on taxi-out...it doesn't matter who is standing in the aisle...she can be as shrill as she wants. Had there been an FAA inspection ongoing in the cabin...she could have paid quite a dear price had she done nothing, or casually dealt with the situation.

That must be a Southwest thing. saw the same thing on a non-stop bwi to san over new years in '04-'05.
