Hi All,
I read on one of the posts that all the HP lounges have been re-branded as US Airways clubs now.
My question is a little tricky. I am flying SFO-LASxLAX to conect onto a QF flight back to Australia. As a Qantas Club member, the conditions state that I can access US Airways lounges if travelling on a US Airways operated flight.
With the merger of HP and US, does anyone know if a Qantas Club member may be either able to get into the US Airways lounge legitimately or try and sweet-talk the check in agent and lounge dragons?
Any help appreicated!

All the former America West Clubs are now US Airways Clubs, and entry policies are standardized. If you could get into the US Club at RDU, you can get into the US Clubs at LAS and LAX.
The clubs were one of the first things to be merged/rebranded ^

The issue could be more centered on whether you are technically flying US or HP. Are you flying on a US flight number or a HP flight number? Given the route, you'll be flying on HP metal, even if it is been re-painted to say US Airways.
Fun, huh? Welcome to our world. :) I see confusion around these types of issues every time I fly lately. In one breath they're US Airways and in another their not, depending upon what you are trying to do and how informed/cooperative/ingenious the person is that you're dealing with.
I would just stick to your story that you're flying US Airways, connecting to a Qantas flight, and have a printout of the benefit show the person at the desk.
HP also has an existing codeshare arrangement with Qantas so you might even be covered that way, I don't know.

Thanks for that AZ,
I'm on HP metal on an HP flight number. QF don't have a codeshare arrangement with HP or US (in that direction ie no QF codeshare on HP or US metal). The "listed" Qantas Club Benefit is US Airways lounge on 'any flight operated and marketed by US'. I rang QF about this and they were not even aware of the HP/US Merger (So I throw them in the 'useless informatioon' basket). I can't change to US codeshare (The ticket has already been issued and it was super cheap). Is it just worth a go? I don't know if the printout would help me being a non US flight number.
If no access is available, what's the price of a one day pass? I noticed on the US Airways club info page (which is scarce of much info) that passes are available from any lounge. I will be there for 3 hours or so and would rather sit in a lounge than with the rest of the SLF in the main terminal :)
Thanks again

Hi,
Remember that the LAS lounge is landside outside security so you will need to allow time to get back through security.

Thanks for that. I did notice that on the webpage. Fortunately I'm only in LAS for 40 minutes, so that should be enough time to walk off, play a slot or two, and head to the next gate. I'm more concerned with the LAX lounge if I can get into it that is :D

Hi,
At LAX the HP club is in T1 ( departures) and the Qantas flights leave from TBIT or T4 ( depending on route) so you may not have an opportunity to use the US Club at LAX ( unless on a very long layover and you use the club prior to bag reclaim and leaving the secure area)
Would the Qantas Club card get you into the AA lounge (T4) or any lounge at TBIT?

Ooops my bad!
I meant SFO not LAX. I'm Qantas Club yes which will get me into the normal AC for AA in LAX, however I'll get into the First lounge (flying first class on QF LAX-SYD).
If no one has a definite answer on the lounge I'll try and wrangle my way in by saying 'oh I thought Qantas Club members could come in here' and put on my best aussie accent and smile :D ^
Either that or I'll find something to bribe them with :)
Thanks again guys

Sadly, there is no US Airways Club in San Francisco :( and hasn't been one for quite some time. It was closed during one of the rounds of bankruptcy cost-cutting, and post-merger US has moved its operations in with America West in a different wing.
Those of us who fly US from SFO can hope against hope... the only major with no clubroom at SFO :(
