View Full Version : Meeting Someone When Coming into Domestic & Int'l Terminals

I arrive LAS 9:40pm on a Friday night on United. A colleague of mine arrives 10:20pm on Air Canada. My understanding is they come into different terminals.

I'm going to have checked luggage so it will take a bit of time for it to come up, which brings me somewhat close to his arrival time. Since our company has us at the same hotel I thought I'd wait for him & then just share a cab.

How do I get from UA to where AC is? Which is closer to the other? ie, should I go there (walk, shuttle, etc) or he come to UA (walk, shuttle, cab)?

Any info appreciated.

Cheers.

SkiAdcock, there is a recent thread that may be of help. Unfortunately it's in the wrong forum

If AC comes into the International Terminal (aka Terminal 2), then I would suggest that you take the shuttle bus from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. The baggage claim area of Terminal 1 is a zoo and huge, and it would be much easier to find someone in the much-calmer environs of the Terminal 2 lobby, imo.

If you look here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=las&ll=36.087699,-115.151793&spn=0.006347,0.01193&t=k

Terminal 1 (domestic) is at the bottom of the page and Terminal 2 is the smaller terminal directly to the north with the MD-11 parked at the gate. I've never headed up to Terminal 2, so I'm not sure if you can get there on any walking path or not, but it looks like it's about 1000 to 1500 feet to get up that way.

The other thread indicates that some think it is indeed walkable.

Side note: SkiAdcock, if you've not flown to LAS on UA before, you'll come into the D gates and then will have to ride the train to the main terminal (terminal 1)

The portion of term 2 that is closer to term 1 where the mad dog is parked is the customs area so you actually have to walk up to the other end where the TA lobby is, not that would make that much difference. Good Luck.

Thanks. Knew you all would know. I've been to LAS a lot of times so know about the tram into baggage claim, but never had to meet someone before especially someone coming into a dif terminal.

Cheers.

Sharon,

I have walked from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 in the past. If you have luggage I would not recommend it. There is a narrow pathway that is not particularly made for walking. It is more like a large curb for part of the way. They do have a bus that will take you. I also agree that it will be much easier for you to find each other at Terminal 2. There may also be a smaller cab line.

Thank you GDIW. Presuming the bus works at that time of night that's what I'll do. Hmm, how do I find out the hours of the terminal shuttle busses?

Edited to add: Is LAS on 1 level or 2? Does the bus also drop you underground & then you go up to T2?

Terminal 1 has three levels, iirc. Levels 2, 1, and 0. The bus there comes in at Level 0. There is an escalator in the baggage claim area (Level 1) that's not very well marked down to Level 0 -- unless this has changed since the last time I was there.

You are correct and there are two elevator banks on either side of the main corridor between both sections of baggage claim that will also take you to the lower level. Good luck.

I think I remember seeing the elevator banks from previous trips. I'll just grab the shuttle bus. Will tell the person coming in at T2 to just wait outside & I'll find him. Thanks for all the help. Cheers.
