Clive Beddoe snapped up more as shares slipped
Analysts divided, partly because of soaring fuel
From the article:
One reason investors may like WestJet shares is that the company this year will complete a six-year transition to streamline the corporate fleet, Beddoe said. All of the company's 54 jets are Boeing 767 series planes with an average age of two years, Beddoe added, and both factors will help WestJet pare maintenance costs.
In his wettest dreams :D
If he doesn't perform by the end of Q2 the institutions will be running for cover and I predict $7 a share by that time if earnings are not going north. My financial advisor wouldn't touch WS stock, partially for that reason.

I note this statement from the link:
"In February, for instance, 12.9 million WestJet shares had been borrowed by short sellers, down 6 per cent from the previous month. By contrast, short sellers increased borrowing shares of Air Canada parent ACE Aviation Holdings Ltd. by 47.9 per cent in February."
Does the street know something FT does not know? ;)

Mine likes AC as an in and out investment and had me cash out my oriignal stock when it doubled and kept the profits in.......he says with all the values being unlocked in the various divisions the market will eventually value the ACE stock at above $45 but with lots of volatility.

The theory is nice, like having one's cake and eating it too. ACE sells off up to half of each divisions and pockets the cash to pay down debt and further cleans up the balance sheet. It has good cash flow from the dividends and other payments from income trusts. All this off-sets any revenue issues with the remaining operating airline unit (AC) as the normal ups and downs occur.
But what of the overhanging dumping that the bailout parties will be involved in shortly? Won't that depress the stock with a flood of ACE shares in the open market?

Why would they dump now........the full business model hasn't been unfolded yet and IMHO believe those same shareholders will use ACE to be a bigger palyer in the world. Remember, the US government is considering allowing foreign ownership of airlines. A share purchase buyout of US Air possibly? A merger with LH or UA? All possiblities are open.
ACE is a holding Company and not subject to the whims of Transport Canada or the feds.

Maybe a question you should ask Milton and his managers as they sell a sea of shares. If there is so much money still on the table why are they selling?
On the other hand Clive is putting his money where his mouth is and buying.
These 2 examples say it all.

Read the full story...RM cashed in some options for tax planning purposes and bought back a bunch of stock personally. You should put your money in something good instead of seating it out at WS with a low salary and no return on your investment.

Really? Tell me Mr. parnel what numbers were on my T4 this year?
Your limited knowledge of WestJet's compensation is proven with the stock comment. No one at WestJet is forced to buy stock.
Keep trying to minimize our compensation. We're laughing at you...all the way to the bank.
