Hi Everyone :)

I need to book 5 nights in March at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo.
The hotel is in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo.
I am going there alone, so I need a "single use" rate
b/c some rates are based on double occupancy :(

I am Japanese, so I have been searching for the best rates
on Japanese websites (best reseve, OZmall, shuku puraza, etc)
and also many U.S. websites (expedia, orbitz, hotels.com, etc)
The best rate I found for this hotel is 18480 JPY around
160 dollars per night.

Is this the best rate I can get for this hotel?
If anyone knows a website that has a lower rate than
what I found for this hotel, please let me know.
The website can be Japanese or English.
This rate is for a standard double room and it comes
with two options, you can either request a room upgrade
or request a late check out. It's called the MY Choice plan.
I found the above rate at best reserve
(Japanese website for business travel)
http://www.travel.co.jp/best/index.html
The hotel is a 4 star or 5 star hotel in an extremely
convenient location. Maybe the 160 dollars a night is
an okay deal for this hotel?

But I am staying for 5 nights, and the total
would be around $817 (97020JPY)for the whole stay
including taxes and everything.
I would appreciate any information or advice :D
Thank you.

From my limited experience with this hotel, you seem to have found a decent rate, but I don't know if it's the lowest. I stayed there just about 2 years ago and I paid 21000 JPY for one person. The lowest "special" rate currently listed on their site for memebers of their Executive International Club is 22050 JPY, although that includes breakfast and other extras.

The Keio Plaza is in a convenient location, at least I thought it was for a first-time Tokyo visitor like myself. There is also a Washington hotel in the neighborhood, but farther from Shinjuku Station, at which rooms start under 10000 JPY. It's a typical Japanese business hotel, so the room will be noticeably smaller than those at the Keio Plaza. If you've got the $ (or the yen) for 5 nights at the Keio Plaza, I'd choose it over the Washington.

I think that's a pretty good rate for the Keio plaza, only about Y5000 a night above the nearby, much lower class, Shinjuku Washington hotel, if you want a comparison.

They had some sort of executive club at the Keio Plaza that you could join for free. It featured discount rates, if you haven't done that, and it still it exists, consider enrolling. But I doubt that you will do better than Y18,500/night.

Go for the room upgrade instead of the late checkout, there is a big quality difference between the worst rooms and the better rooms at this hotel.
