Sorry don't have an official source a flight attendant friend told me that they are discontinuing the free snacks and will only offer Buy on Board. Supposed to save $ 2m a year.

This is being considered and would save $4.5 million per year. No plans have been announced, and as far as our inflight dept is concerned, we are continuing to offer complimentary snacks on all flights greater than 35 minutes in duration.
It is important to note that only the cookies/snack mix is being considered for elimination. Non-alcoholic beverages will continue to be complimentary.

ah but those supposedly "solid profits" are supposed to make WS better than AC not a copycat. Oh well..........might be the only profit they make this year and they'll spin it as trying to make people eat healthier.

My final post, for those who care:
WestJet has decided NOT to discountinue complimentary snacks. A choice of complimentary cookies or pretzel snack mix will continue to be offered on all flights over 35 minutes in duration.
