:td: I'm curious if anyone has any comments about the HP/US operations at FAT. It seems to me that lately they have had a very high percentage of delayed and cancelled flights. And the HP/US ground employees at FAT ... well, I think they might be better suited to work at Burger King.
The HP/US performance at FAT has been so poor lately that I'm switching to other carriers.
Any comments?

this has been talked about before i think on every airline chat page. Pax have always complained about HP ops in FAT, and most specifically, the lack of customer service and the horrible attitudes that the FAT employees have. Then again, they have always had to deal with the express side of HP operations, so I am sure that they have had theirs highs and lows as well. Other HP Express cities though don't seem to get as many complaints as FAT does

Agreed. I had to search for Mesa employee when they 1/2 killed my suitcase. Their response - here is the form, fill it out and maybe we can help, but we are going home for the night now. So I just let them finish their death march on my bag on the return flight and had LAS give me a replacement. Nonetheless, my interaction with this station was an embarassment to Mesa.

With all due respect to the fraction of hardworking employees, Mesa's operation is at best PATHETIC. Nobody cares about the passengers, nobody thinks about the passengers, and nobody gives a cr**p about the passengers.
That being said, the captain who called on his cellphone to find a gate agent AFTER THE SCHEDULED DEPARTURE TIME and who subsequently helped unload carryon luggage at Oakland is most definitely an exception. Likewise, there was an FA who continued to be cheerful after a 2 hour delay and 3 (yes, three) gate changes...

Mesa also has the lowest labor costs in the industry. Could there be a correlation????? It baffles me why so many airlines (US/HP, UA, DL, YX) use Mesa airlines despite their horrendous reputation for ghetto employees and poor customer service. There are, of course, exceptions, but Mesa corners the market on ghetto in this industry.

No doubt, AS Flyer, you're right!
My funniest experience with Mesa was when HP had a mini-hub at Columbus Ohio. I was flying HP Express (operated by...you guessed it...Mesa) from Columbus to BWI. At the beginning of the flight, the FA said that HP Express offers a full selection of beverages, including coffee, soft drinks, water, tea, and alcoholic beverages for a charge, blah, blah, blah... So, when the ghetto FA comes around with beverage service, I ask for coffee and he replies, "Oh no, sir, we don't serve coffee on these flights."

Just a followup for all of you.
1 RT on LAS-FAT-LAS will be upgraded to an A319 in April (the 12:10PM LAS-FAT and the 2:05 PM FAT-LAS).
Hopefully this is the first step in converting the Fresno station over to mainline.

The upgrade in that flight to mainline is a nice sight, but yours truly (you know who ;) ) will still be doing ground handling for it.
