Hello,

Is there not a thread with discussion on the new Dividend Miles program? I can't seem to find it. I will be traveling this entire year for work and I am going to go with either Delta or US Airways. It appears that when I become Gold with Delta, I will get a 100% mileage bonus, and with the NEW US Airways program, only a 50% bonus, where in the old program it was 100%. I'm just trying to figure out when exactly this change will happen, and get advice.
THanks for all your help!
Dave

Stick with Delta. I moved over to UA and getting my 100% bonus. US is now being run by a bunch of AZ hillbillies that made a bad airline worse.

I disagree with the "AZ Hillbillies" comment. They are moving the HP model to the rest of US Airways... but they are also keeping some of the good things of US Airways. Yes things are changing.. Yes some are not good.. and we can appreciate what you are saying about the reduced mileage bonus (HP experienced it several years ago)... but it does "encourage you" to move up your status... and if you think about, if you do get UA mileage, it really does not really hurt US AIRWAYS.. it just means they pay the miles to UA.

I actually think their model is going to work out. Besides FTalkers.. many fliers DO NOT have a choice on airline.. and do not fly more than 20,000 miles a year...

If you don't mind me asking, what are some of the good things from US Airways other than Star Alliance? The old US Airways did not require 125,000 miles for a first class award to Europe. And to make things better, it seems that there will be no snack service on flights under 3.5 hours now. Lovely, can't wait to see how they are going to lose revenue on routes like MIA-PHL-MIA once the premium pax realize that AA serves meals and operates new aircraft on this market.

You come from the original HP mentality which is fine. Many of the original US FT are use to a higher standard. I get more for the same money on UA. Enjoy the new US. I know I am sure enjoying UA and will never come back, I am glad this happened it has forced me to look at other options. Hope the new model works out for everyone.

Seriously, I was a UA 1K longer than I was with HP or US.. and I did enjoy United and it was hard to leave.. why did I leave? Convenience. I enjoy getting to Ontario International close to flight time and have one flight to Phoenix. (Ditto for Las Vegas). If I flew more to DEN or ORD (even IAD) I would be in LAX flying UA.. but I get to fly closer to home, spend more time at home and enjoy that.

I do wish US provided more, I was use to a better 1st class...and more... but I understand their business model, and no matter what you say, they can continue to attract the masses if they get their prices down to Southwest levels (or in their neighborhood). I agree it is not in our best interest, but Tempe will still be able to run an airline and make $$$$.

I totally agree with you, if those things are more important and you do not mind inconvenience (if UA is not as direct), then fly UA... because you will get the increased service.
