I'm considering changing my carry on. I travel on the lovely A330 TA in Envoy, but I would like to be prepared for Coach just in case. Does anyone know if a Travelpro Crew5 22" will go in an overhead properly without being a space hog? I know its within the posted dimensions but it seems a bit large.

I don't know about your specific piece. I do know A330 has one of the most generous overhead bins on any A/C, especially the middle section. On the B767, my 22 inch carry on usually is tight on the side overhead, and almost impossible in the center section overhead. But no problem on the A330 at all. The center section overhead section bins do not drop down like the B767. Instead they open up like the side overhead bins.

In 4 years, I've never had to check a bag on the A330. As mentioned above, the middle overhead bins are the same construction as the sidewalls as in they open up and do not drop down.
Also, the bins in economy are the same size as those in Envoy so you shouldn't have any problems at all.
