Maybe a nice US CP might be willing to give you his [or her] international companion upgrades but
he(s) would have to travel with you and the ticket would have to be in at least Q booking class.

Not sure what this post actually added to this thread. And what does "he(s)" mean?

To actually answer the OP's question, these upgrades are available this year. However, USAir ( ;) ) has given these upgrades to travel agents in the past and this year has made it clear that the upgrades are not to be sold on ebay. However, some still end up there, so I would check that if you really need any. They're going to cost you more than last year though; you're probably looking at spending $150-$200 on each voucher this year versus $75-$100 last year.

It still disturbs me that the $150-200 and you can fly in ENVOY... I think this benefit should be reserved to specific travelers. Maybe restrict it so the travel agent "gifted these" has to be booking the travel... I do not know.. still is annoying to see these go so cheaply.. on many airlines (UA is the same as they are about to expire and people need to dump them)

Sorry, I usually do not attempt to educate the masses that call US Airways by a name not reflected on its livery. He(s) was not a typo. You might want to learn what it means.

Yeah, I put that USAir bit in there just for you. Are you this much of a jerk when not on a message board?

Do you ever take your own advice and "refrain from adding comments if you won't even answer the OP's question?"

I think we should start ignoring the trolls on this forum. It's hard, especially with impossibly arrogant and blatantly ridiculous trolls. But every forum on the internet has its wet behind the ears loudmouths that try to stir the pot so they can feel important. It's just part of the deal, I guess. ;)

One of the reasons I left US for UA was this exact problem. I was pretty busy the first three quarters of the year and didn't realize that TA upgrades were going for $100 on ebay that were good for any status on any priced flight. For all my loyality with the airline, as a CP, I got two Q ($1000+ fare) coupons. So at any status level, you could save $400 and fly in Envoy while I sat in the back. That's how they treat their "best" customers.

This is exactly why I started a thread about a month ago concerning the need for US to overhaul their DMUPTA series upgrade certificates such that, like UA Systemwide Upgrades, passengers can confirm an Envoy seat, subject to capacity controls, at the time that they purchase the ticket for most economy fares, rather than at the 7-day window (which, in practice, generally means the gate since they seldom clear 7 days out).

My argument was that since US was being so restrictive in only offering the DMUPTA's to CP's in the first place and since they are being stingy in only giving out one set (plus for a companion) per year, why not at least make them more user-friendly by making them confirmed upgrade coupons (outside of just the "Y" and "B" fare context) --- much as UA does (except UA gives you either six or eight transferable systemwide coupons per year as a 1K compared to US's two).

Given all of the quality of service and product reductions that US has been heaping on its best fliers, making the DMUPTA's confirmed upgrade coupons (subject to capacity controls) is the least they could "give back."

lt1GM, I totally agree with you. Way too many trolls here.

Now shut the h*ll up so we can get back to talking about lime color and XOXOs. :)
