Greetings --
I am flying SXM/CLT/ATL on 3/19/06. When I booked the itinerary, the connecting time was 1:37. Sounded a little tight, with customs and immigration, but probably doable.
I have received a "schedule change" email, which informs me that my connection time is now 1:04. The CLT/ATL flight is the last one of the day on any airline. Do I have a snowball's chance in h*ell of making this connection?
Does USAir wait for int'l connecting pax when it is the last flight of the day?
All suggestions and comments are welcome!!
Thank you.

I believe that the minimum legal connection time for int'l to domestic is 1:20, which would make this an illegal routing. I would contact US to get rerouted, either on the earlier SXM-CLT flight or on the SXM-PHL flight.

I came through CLT from BGI the other night. As we were coming in the pilot informed us that 4 Caribbean flights come in at just about the same time each day. They are BGI, SXM, Costa Rica and one other. Luckily, we were the first flight in and breezed through customs. They did have 12 lanes open for US Residents at Customs/Immigration so that part should go smoothly.
We only had our carry ons so we didn't have to wait for luggage. If you had to wait for luggage, then I would be a bit concerned.
I think you'll be just fine. If you hit a delay however, I'd be a bit concerned. Delays into Charlotte aren't nearly that common since it is a warm weather hub. I'd hussle your butt...but think you'll be just fine. Charlotte is one of the nicest airports in the country and very well run.

I came into CLT from FRA yesterday and we were second (got in early) of a bunch of flights. What a complete mess! They did have all the lanes open and they were processing non-nationals faster than nationals! It was nuts and I know a bunch of folks may have missed connections. I had 2.25 hours and it ended up taking us 1.25 hours to get through customs and back through security... Also wonder how a CP that didn't preclear at 7 days didn't get upped after the fact, but that's a different issue. Kind of made customs in BOS look good!
