I just converted over to UA and have over 300,000 miles to burn on US and almost a 1000.00 in unused ticket refunds. I have the following questions:

If I book a ticket on US and use a my travel credit and a 20,000 mile upgrade I need to use my US FF nbr. Is there a way to get credit on UA for this trip? I am assuming because they are using my US miles and credit there would not be a place to put in your UA #.

Can I use the unused tickets to purchase stuff like club membership?
Can you use unused tickets credits to buy UA codeshare flights and then call UA to add the number?

Have they got the HP thing worked out where you can get *A miles on them?

Any advise would be appreciated

I think you can change your frequent flyer number on the day of departure. On the few times I have used confirmed regional upgrades for flights on United (these days many more than US Airways', I love the Q-UP fares), I have been able to change my frequent flyer number to credit the miles to US Airways at the airport. Please do not waste 20,000 miles to upgrade to First Class on a US Airways domestic flight, all you will be getting is a bigger seat.

After flying UA First for two months it will be cultural shock flying US FC. They say eventually we will be able to use US miles *A upgrades.

Yes, but Star Alliance upgrades are insane, wayyyyy too many miles required for them. You have 300,000 miles, correct? Why not redeem a Business Class around-the-world ticket? Just wait until April when Swiss and South African Airways officially join Star Alliance. I love Swiss :).

As one is mostly flying United metal for US Dividend Miles, save your boarding stubs. Even with my US CHM Preferred Status and USAirways # on the boarding pass, the mileage and flight credit still went to my United Premier Exec account on one I changed at the gate. Am awaiting word on whether US will give me credit.

This has never happened to me. Even when I use a paper upgrade on UA flights, once the check-in agent collects it and prints my boarding pass, I'm able to change my frequent flyer number at the UA Easy Check-In kiosks. If your boarding passes had your US Airways frequent flyer number and you have proof of that, I don't see why US Airways would deny you the miles.
