View Full Version : How wonderful, a dedicated forum for an airline without a FF program!

The move of this forum out of the "Canadian Corner" of the AC/AE forum is the most absurd move on FlyerTalk in a while. It is a sop to a voistrous few who bristle at the presence of this AC competitor, but really is a major inconvenience to the rest of us Canadians who participate in AIR MILES as well as AE who must now migrate to a part of FT that will be visited by next to nobody else.

This is a retrogade move that will only result in the atrophying away of this forum -- one that has no valid reason for existing on its own!

In fact, this forum should actually be ranamed AIR MILES, since there is no such thing as "Passenger Perks", nor even a dedicated WestJet FF program!

Shameful move Randy: Giving in to pressure from a group of FTers who maligne you on their own BB...

Hmmm. For a minute there, I thought you were speaking of Air Canada.

That's a load of crap SH. Segregating it from the AC board is fine with me and most others. I have not seen any whining other than from you on it.

Then let me the first to join Shareholder. I much preferred this forum where it was. But this is Randy's board and we're his guests. If he wants to put the forum here, so be it.

But Stu, SH doesn't think it should exist at all. He complained first that WS got its own sub-forum and that it was under AC.

If SH had his way, WS forum and such talk wouldn't even exist.

And that is what his complaint is about..........NOT getting his way!

Please allow me to shill for WestJet for one moment.

According to Clive on the Q4 and year end 2005 conference call, WestJet has a frequent flyer program through Airmiles.

It might not be a traditional FFP, but it does have the elements of a defined program.

How is it inconvenient to get here? Instead of going to the top of page 1 of the AC forum and clicking, you now go to the forum jump pull down at the bottom, scroll half an inch and click. This forum didn't need to be part of the AC forum, and the stuff talked about here doesn't really need to be talked about in the AC forum itself. I think calling this "shameful" is just a little overblown (OK, a lot overblown).

LOL :D

For those who find that offense just lighten up for minute, laugh and then go back to being offended ;)

What does "Passenger Perks" mean anyway? I think this forum can be of value but a Westjet "Air Miles" title would make more sense.

I agree that the above title change would make sense........ ^ ^ ^

I beleive Randy decided to use that as a "placeholder" name or something, in the event WS actually came up with a FFP with a name. But, yeah, I agree changing it to Air Miles would make sense, since WS is the main airline you can get Air Miles on.

I fail to see what the purpose of starting this thread was. Since 1) this thread is not directly relevant to discussion of WestJet or its "frequent flyer program" Air Miles and 2) the OP has started another thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=527874) in the ORP forum on pretty much the same topic, this one can be closed.
