I got an email from Matmid inviting me to register for a promotion where if I hit a certain threshold I will gain additional points. Apparently it is based on the amount you flew last winter. Considering that I had two flights last winter and only earned 700 points they basically want me to double that. Of course, what they don't figure in is that the 700 was the start of a new job and I'll have this promotion taken care of within a few weeks. Looks like it is only for Israel-based members. Anyway, it goes like this:
1) Hit any of the personal goals between Nov 1, 2005 and April 30, 2006 and get extra miles.
2) They only look at the total amount so you can't get all three of the goals but you get the highest one you've met.
3) Have to sign up by Nov 14, 2005.
4) Have to have an email address registered with El Al by Oct 25, 2005. (I bet they would waive that if someone is a big traveller)
5) Have to have earned at least 150 points between Nov 1, 2004-April 30, 2005 (bet they'd waive that too)
My own goals are:
1) Earn 1190 points get 210 bonus points
2) Earn 1305 points get 320 bonus points
3) Earn 1370 points get 395 bonus points
I'd be curious to hear what goals other people were given and how much travel they had last winter.

Interesting, i've not received any (I'm UK FQTV) and neither has my wife (She's Israeli FQTV), does the email give you a link to anything? (Sometimes at the top of ELAL emails they have website link?)
Be interesting to find out if anyone else receives this.
Maybe it just for Golds/Plats?

In my case, they want me to do:
5535 points to get 890 bonus
5980 points to get 1320 bonus
6200 points to get 1600 bonus
Not sure I'll get to goal one. Its a little over-reaching on their part, IMHO.
Anybody hear that they are now starting a Diamond level, on top of PL? Anybody have details?

I think I lucked out since I only travelled for part of the time that they used as the basis for the personal goal.
There is no URL for the email but there is on for confirming that you wish to take part. The problem is that you'll not know your goals.
You'll want to change XXXX to youe Matmid number. No idea if this works.
This is the T&C:

Everything is in Hebrew, sorry.

My goal is as follows:
Accumulate 545 flight-points will award you with 110 extra points
Accumulate 615 flight-points will award you with 165 extra points
Accumulate 655 flight-points will award you with 210 extra points
No big deal really, I hope they come up with something a little more tempting in the future...

1. I deleted the email I got with my "goals". Does anyone know where i can see it again?
2. That's a bit ambitious for El Al to add Diamond. :td: That will make them a FIVE tier club. I dont know to many airlines with five tiers. If they do, I hope they lower the requisites for PL to 3600.

Its funny you should mention that, because this was the original name for the Platinum Level in its planning stage. They only changed the name to Platinum in its final stage.

Kudos to El Al for sending out an email to notify that the halfway mark has been reached. They even included the current number of miles earned during the promotion!

As far as i am concerned this is just another example of ElAl offering a promotion without taking into consideration any "real" factors.
this is the update from ELAL for me...
"During the first three months of the
FLY MORE – EARN MORE promotion,
you accumulated 4650 points from your flights with EL AL
_______________________________________________
You have less than three months before the end of the campaign
to earn 10560 points* from EL AL flights
_______________________________________________
Does anyone think that the same program incenting someone that flew last year once a month if they fly twice a month, should be applied to someone that flew four times a month last year, and is flying four times a month this year? They basically told me if I will fly to NY 8 times a month, I will earn the following prizes...
If you accumulate the required number of points, you will be able to choose one of the following prizes:
500 extra points
3 nights in a Sheraton Hotel
2 days of pampering for two in a luxurious spa
We wish you pleasant flights and good luck!
Great marketing dont you think?

Wow so it was that tailored? Mine was just for extra points. They should have done some sort of curve though so that while I might need to double my flying someone already doing a good deal of flying has to increase by less. Of course if they are silly enough to keep the exact same parameters in place next year I have no doubt I'll not fulfill the goal reqs as this year already had a huge increase.

Mine was also only for points (as was my wife's). I agree that it seems to be calculated in a highly unintelligent manner, however, I do stand to benefit from it this time! Whereas last year I had a large number of trips from October to December, this year it has been 'skewed' later on, from January to March, meaning that I shall be getting the 'top' reward in the promotion. However, at the end of the year my total for the year will be about the same as last year.

Seeing as I have qualified for the highest reward level, I am quite surprised not to have heard anything from EL AL as of now. The promotion was until the end of April - I am sure their computers are not that slow that they haven't yet got all the qualifying flights registered yet!

Just yesterday I was wondering how long until I see the points. I also qualified for my highest goal. So, I checked out the T&C (https://www.elal.co.il/ft/takanon_Eng.htm)
...
g. Club members will have 30 days from the conclusion of the promotion, in which to update their personal account in the Club with points to which they are entitled for flights flown during the special-promotion period ("Updating Period"). Only points accumulated during the promotion period and updated during the promotion period or the updating period will be taken into account for determining whether the member has met the promotion flight plans. Updates made after the updating period will be counted for Club purposes according to standard Club regulations, but will not be included in this special promotion.
...
i. After the updating period and after calculating the results, the Club will send notification to those Club members who met their personal flight plans. For the sake of clarity: the final calculations will be based upon the actual point status in the Club records at the end of the updating period, and this status will determine whether the member met the flight plans of the promotion.
j. Winners will be informed as per members' details in the Club records.
So, from what I gather from the above is that we will have the extra points only at the beginning of June.

I also got the promotion email - just for points - and promptly deleted it, being sure that I would never fly enough to reach any of my goals.
What a surprise I had, when in February I received another email saying that I had reached my goal, and was awarded 260 bonus points. The email stated exactly by when my account would be credited, and although there were a couple of days late, lo and behold - on the 1st of March, along came 260 bonus points (and they are still there !!).
I don't think I flew a huge amount during the promotion period, and certainly didn't fly ElAl specifically in order to earn the extra points, so I am quite satisfied with it. :)

And the moral of the story is that if it doesn't cost anything to register, just do it. :) I do find it interesting that you apparently didn't register and still got the points.

I just got an email letting me know that I met my goal. It gave the total miles I earned for the 6 month period and notified me of the number of bonus points I will earn. It says that the points will be added to my account on May 31.
