I am going to get an award ticket, for flying to Europe with a Star Alliance (no direct US Airways flight available). Would US airways send me there with one airline and book a return flight with another airline, if it could find a same airline two way flight for the dates I want. Are they being flexible like that when booking you an award flight or not?

Yes, you can go on one carrier going there and another one coming back. For example, I am going to Sydney next week on an award ticket. One of the options they gave me was United going over & then Air New Zealand coming back.
