Does anyone have any reviews on Stuart Anderson's Cattle Company (aka Black Angus) restaurant? We're driving down from Vancouver to Washington state but probably won't go as far south as Seattle. We might stop in Bellingham for dinner on the way back and eat at this place.
Thanks in advance.

Outback Steakhouse is better, if you are interested in this kind of food.

Outback VS Black Angus

Purely a subjective opinion

Christ, I don't quite know how to respond to this--just the fact that it involves Stuart Anderson's Black Angus is enough for one of my generation to start searching for witty metaphors and bitter analogies. Let's put it this way; I had my first fake daquiri served above a hideous dance floor at a Black Angus in Reno. It is a very shallow and scary placee:--to qhote Col. Kurtz, "the horror; the horror; the horror."

Awww, crap just find a frickin' good local steakhouse and order a martini, followed bvy a steak, followed by a cognac.

When I was in HS 20 years ago, SA was the place for a date. I've lately been underwhelmed the few times I've gone there over the last year. IMO, Outback is far better for only a little more money.

Known for gloppy sauces, mediocre cuts of meat, and institutional-grade "cuisine", it's popular with the blue-hair crowd.

Think Sizzler.

Alrighty then... scratching SA's off the list. <ha, ha!>

I think the Outback is ok. We last went to Outback when we went to the Calgary Stampede last year and the fiancee was only so-so about it. (I'm a sucker for the greasy onion bloom though.)

We'll probably end up looking for another place though. It doesn't have to be a steakhouse (we've got Morton's, Hy's, and Gotham's in Vancouver). Just looking for a popular joint that we don't have in Vancouver.
Thanks!

Well said. I've also noticed that a lot of the stores have not been updated in ten years, and look dowdy.

Twenty years ago this was a good chain.

20 years ago my family used to take the mechanics at our car dealership outside of FAT to one of these for dinner once a month. The car salesmen expected something a bit more upscale, though.

Twenty years ago so was Sizzler (at least in the Deep South).

I got very sick from a dinner at the Palm Desert Black Angus about a year ago. Had chicken but the only thing I had that my husband did not was a baked potato with sour cream. The waiter forgot it but then brought it right away, too soon?, when I reminded him. The skin seemed rather oily and it was not super hot - as though it had been sitting around awhile. They never even had the courtesy to answer my e-mail!

Agreed - I don't know if the company's "restructuring" reflects this but I'd rather retain the memories of 20 years ago when we visited a couple of them with our young children then on a couple of more recent unfortunate visits in Bellingham Washington and Portland Oregon (possibly now closed?).

It's kind of funny that everyone is talking about the restaurant's "glory" days being 20 years ago or so because that's the reason why I wanted to visit it again. I vaguely recall my dad taking the family to a Black Angus restaurant when I was a kid. I don't recall what we ate or anything other than it being a nice night out. Oh, well.
