Where can one find the best Indonesian food in San Francisco? I've found a couple of places, but don't know if they're any good. Any inside info appreciated! Thanks.
I've never eaten there, but here's a review to consider:

I think Strait's Cafe (on Geary) is pan-Asian with several Indonesian dishes on the menu. Try this link: http://www.straitsrestaurants.com/

There are at least two other Straits Cafes -- one in Palo Alto and one on Santana Row in San Jose. Food presentation is interesting, taste is decent, but they claim to be Singaporean rather than Indonesian, hence the name.

Thanks for help so far. Jakarta on Balboa just closed, per the SF Chronicle on April 27. I'm still looking.
I'm moving to Jakarta in July for 2 years and am meeting future colleagues/coworkers there for a meet and greet before we're shipped off to Jakarta together! Should be interesting!

Not sure if this restaurant is still in business or not. The last time I was there, the food wasn't what I was expected.
recently opened:
Batavia Garden
415-664-7603
339 TARAVAL STREET
San Francisco, CA 94116
I haven't been to any of these restaurant for a while. Borobudur and Indonesian Restaurant supposedly are better. They are located within a block of each other, with Borobudur has a nicer decor.
edited to add the address of Batavia Garden.

I find that in general, LA has better Indonesian restaurants than SF.

Shiok, Menlo Park claims to be Indoensian I think.
I prefer Banana Leaf in Milpitas though (think it's Singaporean, to start with!).
There's also this Malaysian/Indonesian place called Red Kwali somewhere in Fremont that I gather is worth visiting (haven't been there myself though)

Actually they are also Singaporean.
But I highly recommend them. They are a lot more reasonably priced than the Straits Cafe chain.
