two interesting items from my trip back from FLL to RDU via CLT yesterday. First, in FLL, a women had to be removed from a flight to PHL. I had a friend on the plane and I was sitting near the gate waiting for my CLT flight. PHL flight was full, she boarded almost last. When told she would have to check her carryon, she flipped out, ran up and down the aisle, opened every bin, pulled out blankets and pillows and threw them at the FAs, while screaming obscenities. They escorted her off the plane and she continued to berate them in the terminal, couldn't believe they would not rebook her on a later flight! Security came to talk to her - all of a sudden she was an innocent young thing who just wanted to find space for her bag and the mean FAs yelled at her.
Finally got to Charlotte, missed my connection to RDU and got a seat on an overbooked last flight of the night that would get in at midnight. They asked for volunteers, so I figured I might as well sleep in Charlotte and take the bump since they could get me to my office by 9:00 AM (I am 5 min from RDU). On the shuttle van to the Hilton, other US pax report that they are overnighting at the airlines expense because a baggage cart hit the wing of their Akron-bound plane on the ramp. Jolted the plane hard enough to cause people who were standing to sway.

She sounds reasonable to me. Obviously she had checked bags to Philly before. ;)

Maybe she thought she was on Southwest and wanted her tantrum to be shown on the "Airline" show. :D

They should have put her in jail or better yet, black list her.

I agree!!! I travel a fair amount & am continuously appalled at some people's behaviors. I thought there was bad behavior & abuse towards nurses in the ER where I work but then you fly.....
A night in the city lockup might have changed her attitude!

We must have been on the same flight from FLL yesterday evening, RDU-Man. The gate agent in FLL told me that there were 2 of us going to RDU. I was in seat 01C, on my way from SDQ (Santo Domingo, DR). I took myself off the stand-by list for the 10:50pm flight when a good friend of mine offered to come pick me up and drive me back to RDU (hey, how I could I say no?). I understand that the aircraft had been running late pretty much all day!

So you're one of the CPs that snagged one of the 8 seats in F on the 757 from FLL to CLT! I was back in 4D. Somehow, when I checked with the Special Services desk in CLT, they had already given me a seat assignment on the 10:50 PM to Raleigh so I had a boarding pass.

Let's give US credit where it's due, which, admittedly, isn't much of anywhere of late. That said, there's plenty of pillows and blankets on US, at least on transcons. Maybe there's less on the short hauls. Unlike other AAirlines, they have not eliminated such things.
FYI--if you do snag a pillow, there is quite often a supply of clean covers in the 1AC overhead bin. Usually, the FA says something along the lines of, "I don't blame you." when I put on a new one and bring the old one to the galley to be thrown out.

In the ER you have the advantage of being able to drug them and knock them out!! :D

Or drug yourself in order to tolerate them!

Good point. I did a weekly DCA-X-SFO from Aug 04-Feb of this year, and they did have some pillows. But I honestly have not seen a pillow or blanket on any flights since then. I really used to rely on them being available on the RJs because of the seat comfort issue (for me anyway. . . not a fan of Embraer or Canadairs at all). Since most of my flights lately are confined to east of the Mississippi, guess there is little chance.

They are getting rare, but I still see them. There were both blankets and pillows (in F anyway) on a 757 CLT-FLL last week, and I've seen pillows in Coach within the past couple of weeks.
I too have found pillows to be important on the CRJs - those skinny armrests really need more padding
