I'm a US elite traveling on UA tickets on UA metal. Can someone advise on the procedure for reserving an E+ seat? I'm travelling tomorrow LAX-PHL, and the last row in coach isn't such a pleasant thought!

I believe all you have to do is either call United & give them your flight info & US Silver # & if there is an E+ seat you should get it, or when you check in at the airport ask for one using your Silver status on US.

Calling is probably best as you will secure the seat ahead of time.

Safe travels...

Many people on here have reported a host of problems accomplishing this. I've only had to do it twice (that darn TED!) and both times simply called the general UA res number and they took care of me. My DM no. was already in the res and it took but seconds. And the seats they assigned me in E+ were the seats I had when I checked in--smooth as can be.

In general, I find UA to be rather kind to US elites.

As noted above, if already ticketed call UA and they'll put you in E+ so long as there's availability and your US DM# is on the reservation. You can also do it at online or kiosk checkin with UA, but obviously the longer you wait there's a greater risk of no availability or only middle seats.

Otherwise, at least when through my corporate booking website, the secret is to 1) be sure your US # is in there and 2) don't make seat assignments, let the UA computer do it. It should put you in E+ automatically; if you don't like the seat call UA and they'll change it if possible.

I don't think I've missed out on getting into E+ on UA at all for as long as I can recall.

I just recently booked a ticket on UA metal, in which I forgot to provide my US DM Silver at the time of booking.

Called up UA reservations, they added my DM info and gave me my choice of E+ seats, no questions asked. Didn't take more than 3 minutes.

Flew about 30,000 miles on UA metal last year and have been pleased with how UA cust. serv. has treated me always.

I was fortunate enough on a recent trip to SYD to obtain an E+ seat with my DM number and then at the ticket counter have my UA acct credited with the miles. I have read about people on this board having mixed results doing this. I was seriously happy since UA was running a double miles promo at the time! :p
