I have a United ticket that includes US metal code share flights. I am a US Gold Preferred. Has anyone been recently upgraded on the US metal flights?

In the past I have seen some upgrading at the gate. Has anyone been upgraded in advance of the day of flight?

If the first flight is on US, I usually check in at kiosk in this case, and you can upgrade that way if there's space available or at least get onto the upgrade waitlist. I've never seen the web checkin provide any way for me to upgrade in this way, so I don't do the web checkin for US-operated mainline flights ticketed by UA.

If your first flight is with UA and you need to check in with them, you'll probably have to go for it once at the US gate.

Its been known to happen to call US, give them the US flight# and last name and get on the waitlist for Preferred upgrades. But not technically possible until DoD.

A friend who is US Gold but had a UA ticket on US metal was on the same flight I was. I cleared 3 days out and when I called to get seats, I asked if I could upgrade him as a traveling companion and was told that because of the UA ticket, he needed to wait until the day of departure before the upgrade was processed.

when we checked in, he was given a coach boarding pass.

however, at the gate, he did end up getting upgraded.
