As others have commented, GE is keeping weaker airlines like USAirways afloat .. good for USAirways, maybe not so good for the industry.

Right on, Pitflyer. These guys give away ice in the winter, and you can bet they will play a part in any roll up of the assets.

That seems the most likely scenario. GECAS just wants to keep the planes out of the desert.

GE is it's own global economy. They lend money to companies who turn around and spend it on GE products! The airline industry isn't the only market that this phenomenon occurs!
