I've been reading through the 8-page upgrade thread and there seems to be a pattern of Caribbean upgrades NOT clearing at the window.

Can anyone offer an exception over the 3 months? If so, did you make a call to an agent to clear (and which one, int'l or regaular res?) or was it an auto-upgrade?

If there is a uniform policy against Carib window upgrades, then why are they different from the rest?

There are 15 open F seats to STT for my upcoming flight and I have yet to clear as a US2.

I fly DCA to STX twice a month. I go DCA to PHL to SJU. My upgrades NEVER clear in advance. At DCA I usually get the upgrade when I check in (must use paper tickets due to Caribbean Sun operating the SJU-STX leg). In San Juan its always the gate dance. Of course its usually an A330 out of there so upgrades are never an problem.

Be sure to ask about them when you get to the airport too as there have been many times when the upgrade is visible on the website, but when I get to the gate they have no record of me putting in for it.

Thats the bad news, the good news is, its usually easy to get upgrades to the Caribbean as many of the travelers are non FF'ers just wanting to get some sun.
