View Full Version : United/US Air booking from Philadelphia

Hi Everyone. This is my first post on the boards...and it's probably a silly question but here goes...
I have been faithful to US Air over the years, but after a recent bad experience in Philly prior to Christmas I am thinking about using another airline for our February trip.
However, when I went to purchase tickets through United, I noticed I was actually still using a US Air flight. (It said flight operated by US Air)
What would happen if I purchase these tickets, and then US Air goes belly up?
Will the flight be cancelled? Will I have to rebook through another airline with additional fees?
As you can tell...although I fly occasionally, I am a rookie at all of this! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Best guess: You're on a United ticket so you're covered under UA CoC. Same rules as if a schedule change happened or they lost a regional carrier (such as when ACA went bye-bye).

I think UA would take care of you.

You may want to check this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383361) for some insight as to UA/US codeshare situations from a recent traveler over the holidays.

I agree with jcooke. It will most likely be treated as a cancelled UA flight, so you will probably be rebooked on the next available UA fight to your destination.

I am in the same boat. I have tickets through UA but it states the flight is operated by USAir. My question is, I am going to Orlando and to my understanding UA does not fly directly there. What will my options be is USAir does go belly up?

"does not fly directly there" is pretty vague. Where is "here"?

for those new to FT -- welcome.

Many of the questions you've asked in this thread have been answered dozens of times. A simple search (or, in some cases, a review of the current thread on the front page) will answer them for you.

Please forgive me for I am new here. As I stated, I am in the same boat as the person who started the thread. Flying out of PHL in April to MCO. I think I read somewhere that UA does not fly directly to MCO which is why my flight is operated by USAir because they do. I was just curious as to what will happen if USAir goes belly up. This is going to be my wedding/honeymoon trip so I am starting to worry. If it was any other trip, I wouldn't.

Worse case, UA would fly you PHL-IAD-MCO or PHL-ORD-MCO.

Dont worry, you'll still be able to get to the honeymoon. :)
