Hi All,

I'll be staying near the convention center in March. Is it necessary to rent a car to get to decent (but not overly pricey) dining and such or is there anything within walking distance? I checked the convention center's website but found it all to be just a sales pitch. I'll be at a convention during the day and won't be going to amusement parks or seeing the sights.

Has anyone used MEARS (either shutle or towncar service)? How about Dixie Limo? Do you have another suggestion along those lines from personal experience?

Sorry for the basic questions. I didn't really find them answered when I did a search.

Best bet is to rent a car. MCO car prices are usually very low and with a car you can experience better local restaurants than the touristy places near the convention center. Check this thread for some dining options in Orlando. You may want to check for an Entertainment book, if there is more than one travelling. There is a very good selection of restaurants in Orlando for buy one get one free.

Always very clean inside and out, driver's very knowledgeable and friendly (but not overly)tiffanytowncars.com (http://tiffanytowncars.com)

I second that recommendation! We've used Tiffany many times and always been really pleased.

Thank you. The rates seem decent also.

I've used Mears before, between MCO and Disney. I usually reserve a town car instead of the van -- it avoids unnecessary stops. Never had a problem, although we have found it is much more convenient to have a car too.
