I was at DCA earlier today, and I saw a US 737 sitting near commuterville with some steps leading up to it. It wasn't where I usually see a plane that is under service. Anyone know anything about it?

The overnight maintenance area is right next to expressville; perhaps there was one more 737 than could normally be parked at the mtc area and it was "overflowed" to be parked near the express area?

About 2 months ago or so I saw a 319 (701 or 702UW) in normal US livery parked there while I was running on the Mt Vernon trail, and wondered what it was doing there. Then 2-3 days later I read here that somebody had seen 701 or 702 (whichever it was) in the brand-new Star Alliance livery...

What is commutersville and expressville? Are these the name of the hangers or something?

Hangar = where you keep an airplane
Hanger = where you keep your coat

Presumably a nickname for the area where the DH-8s et al. are parked, opposite gates 35A to 41. See the "commuter parking" area on the map at http://www.naco.faa.gov/content/naco/online/airportdiagrams/00443AD.PDF
