Hi guys, not a frequent US flyer so I'm looking for a little help...Booked a one-way on US115 Dec-24 from PHL-SEA. It's a K class fare. Amazingly got it for $109 but it's now $1000 more in B for all 3 PHL-SEA flights that day. Anyways, my brother has 20k US miles he doesn't care for and offered to upgrade me. Checked on ITN and see:

F7 P6 A4 Y7 B7 M7 H7 Q7 V7 L7 W7 S7 T2 K0

Called US and was told there was nothing available and they could not put me on any list, and that I would have to keep calling to check for availability.

So I'm not sure which class of inventory I need to open up...ran a search and thought it was P, but not sure...

thanks!
Andy

It's E, which is not a published fare class.

You sjould still be able to be put on the waitlist for upgrade, I would think...

Try, try again.

There's no list on which to be put if you're using miles to upgrade--you just have to keep calling back.

The list is only for those seeking free upgrades based on status, and then you hope to clear the list at your respective window--7, 3, or 1 days in advance.

Not to worry, they start opening seats in "E" booking class 7 days before departure for Chairman's Preferred members, so if you really want to maximize your chances of getting the upgrade, call US Airways exactly 7 days in advance by 1 am EST (the time the computer starts processing upgrades for CPs) and tell them you want to use miles to upgrade. "P" booking class is reserved for passengers upgrading from full-fare Y or B booking class, and also, if had a CS0007 certificate, which is a guaranteed upgrade regardless of the fare purchase, you would be booked in P. However, do not try to tell them you have a CS0007 certificate to get the upgrade b/c they will collect it at check-in (the system will not allow you to check-in online), and if you dont have the certificate, you will be put back in Coach.

Thanks all, on my 4th try there was a seat available, so I'll be in 2F on an A320 for the 6hr flight.
