Some good news for a change. See the Yahoo news (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/041202/dcth054_1.html).

Pilots and CWA down, AFA and IMA to go. I still think that AFA is going to reach a deal. The IMA remains the real stickler.

WOW! Great news. Thanks for posting mike. Now hopefully the membership will ratify it! ^

Still subject to membership ratification... But a brighter light nevertheless.

I prefer them to have a vote on a TA than to be rattling sabers over strike votes.

The individual members of AFA and the IAM will be the ones making the decision. If a strike vote is called and fails, that doesn't mean US management has carte blanche to bend them over a barrel, again, but it does mean that both sides will "reset" their bargaining zones to better come up with a workable deal.

This is very positive news. It keeps the pressure on both sides that a deal is reachable as the CWA also was one of the unions that threatened to strike.

I met some Gate agents and reservation agents who flew up to LGA from DCA on a shopping trip to NYC and they well realized what a strike would mean for US Air and their jobs. I am confident that the rank and file of the CWA will ratify this agreement.

As has been said, the tougher nut to crack will be these 2 other unions, but it sets a great precedent.

There is time to continue negotaitions as it is extremely doubtful that there will be a decision from the BK court before early next year.

Perhaps there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel? :)

It is hard to tell from the posturing on usaviation, but that appears to be the consensus. I think that the buy-out provision will be the thing that seals the deal.
