I have a trip to Tokyo planned this December 28th-Jan 12th. I booked through US, but all my flights are on Lufthansa metal, except one on United. My question is this: If US is gone, where will I check in? I planned on using the website the nightbefore, but where will I check my bags and whatnot? This may be a stupid question, but the answer is not readily apparent to me. Search no good.

just checked USair.com and internet check-in is not an option since I have paper tickets

On a codeshare flight you should checkin at which ever airline whose metal you are actually flying. So if your first segment is on US you would check in at the US counter, if it is on UA or LH you would check in at their counters.
