Probably depends on the rules of the Essential Air Service (http://ostpxweb.dot.gov/aviation/rural/easfaqs.htm) act if they think it needs air service and there are no longer any carriers serving the airport.

I think US will continue to serve all of the small local airports that they have a lock on, though some may see service reduced. It's a guaranteed passenger if the person doesn't want to drive to another airport.
