View Full Version : question about the new "zone seating"

I have booked a flight for this coming March, that is if US is still in business, and it is the first since they announced that the plane would board in zones. Does that mean that it is done the way Southwest does it? There are no assigned seats anymore? The reason I ask this question is this: I booked the said flight on the website and went through the usual routine of selecting both flights and then I clicked the assign seat button and was taken to the selection screen for my seats. There were three of us and I picked three seats together in row 8 of the 767 and confirmed it and submitted payment. My email confirmation showed the right seats for both flights. Now why was I allowed to select seats if you board by zone and not seat number? I am a USAir Visa Signature card holder, but my credit card wasn't used until after the seats were selected.

Someone please set me straight if I am wrong in my assumptions and explain anything I might have missed that is relevant to my question.

Thank you

Jon

You are incorrect; your seat assignments will stand, and you will board in zone 2 as visa signature passengers. GPs, CPs, and other first class folks will board in zone 1. Zones 3 and on - well, you won't have to worry about them because you'll be seated by then.

As bigred said you have no need to worry (well not about this). It's zone boarding NOT zone seating. It's all about when you get on the plane not where you sit.
