I booked an award ticket to Asia with USAirways (had a lot of miles and didn't wanted to use them quickly!), and on the return trip, I have a layover in Vienna from 6 PM until 11 AM the next morning (this was unavoidable, no matter which day I traveled).
If I want to stay in a hotel, does the airline have to cover any of the cost? When I asked, they said no since I was using frequent flier miles for the trip. Is that correct? I know it's a long shot that they would cover it, but I thought I would ask, just in case!
Thanks!

Nope not at all. That being said if it is a business class award or you have *Alliance gold status you may be able to have access to a lounge or something.
Perhaps priceline a hotel in Vienna or change your ticket to not have a layover?

Thanks for the help. I figured as much. There's no way around the layover. It's a Middle East destination, and there's only one flight in and out on a USAir partner airline.
Thanks again.
you might also want to use with priceline biddingfortravel.com, it's great to see the going rates of hotel!
hope this help
