View Full Version : Website documentation of *G extra baggage allowance?

I searched but couldn't find any reference on the US website that explicitly says that *G members of OTHER AIRLINES, not US, are entitled to an extra piece of checked baggage on US flights. I found the references that GP and CP get it, but not others.

I'm going to be flying out of a small airport that does not have mainline US service, and want to minimize the chance that the checkin agent is not aware of the policy and wants to charge me $80 for my 3rd piece.

Considering that a US *international* reservations agent had to go find out from a supervisor about the policy when I asked about it tells me that it may not be all that well-known. She even said that no one had ever asked her about that before!

So... is the 3rd-piece-free-for-all-*G's policy listed anywhere? Wasn't under Baggage, Ask a Question, or the Star Alliance parts. Under the 'preferred levels' area, it talks about how GP and CP are *G, and therefore get the benefit, but doesn't explicitly say that ALL *G's get that benefit on US flights.

I know I can get the documentation from other sites (staralliance, united.com, etc.) or from my UA Premier Exec benefits brochure, but I was hoping to have something explicitly from the US website, on the assumption that it might carry more weight with a non-mainline checkin agent that was unfamiliar with the policy.

United, for example, does a good job on its website by clearly stating "United's 1K Premier Executive, Premier Executive and Star Alliance Gold members are allowed a third piece of checked baggage free of charge."
I was hoping for something similar from US. Oh well!
