My WSJ subscription was coming up, so I called milepoint.com to see how many WSJ subscriptions you can buy with miles, and the answer is up to 3 years.

At 4,800 miles/year, you are getting a $199 value (as per their website pricing).

We'll see which lasts longer - my subscription, or the airline...

Thanks for the great tip. I thought the WSJ was limited to 3 mos. I'm renewing today.

Are there any other good values to cash out about 9,000 orphaned miles that I will likely never use? All my miles go on UA now.

I saw the mile point site but I'm confused about what would be a good value. I don't mind transfering them into hotel programs but it's all so confusing. I tried a search here but did not find much. Can anyone point me to a good link where this may have already been discussed?

Many thanks! :)

Have you looked at points.com

They are giving a 2 for 1 on US miles.

Actually, if the promo is like the AA promo back in the early summer, that is 2-1 INTO the US account, not out of it. Say if you have ebay anything points and you want to convert them to AA miles. You will get the normal miles plus a 100% bonus AND 25% additional bonus if you have the paid points.com membership.

I just wanted to clarify this in case anyone thought they could get rid of miles on a 2-1 basis at points.

The 2-for-1 at points.com is for miles into your USAirways account.

I looked at the site last week, as I thought maybe I'd shuttle some of my US miles to American (just in case US does fold) and used the calculator on the main pages which stated that for 50k US miles, I could get about 3k AA miles.

What's up with that?

Anyone know if its possible to do a 1-1 conversion from US miles to either another airline or to a hotel program? Or at least something better than 50-3??
