I just thought I would post some hopeful news from a frequent lurker and frequent as i can flyer. I am traveling - all USAirways - with the family to Grand canyon (LAS) in 2 weeks, BHM in Sept, SFO in Oct, London in Nov, and Cancun in Dec. I bought these tix (except BHM - bump ticket) - and will enjoy a fun trip on each occasion (a little less to SFO as it is for buisness - but I will have fun there too). I am not concerned in the least about the airline still bringing me to my destination safely - and can't wait to use my many miles for a family trip to Buenos Aires in 2006. I will keep collecting miles until then as I figure I'll need about 400,000 miles - so I will keep flying U when I can until I get my big trip.

The people on this board should know there are still mainly leisure travelers like myself who get about 5 weeks of vacation a year (pretty good!), love to travel on the cheap but are loyal to U for the miles, and happy with the service on most days.

Have a great rest of the summer.

well for me I had to work for the same company for 21 years. Some of my working companions have 6 weeks of vacation, 5 now is the max, but they were grandfathered in before the company changed their vacation policy.

Ahhhhh! The advantage of working for a large company and having that luxury that us self-employed don't!!!!! I truly envy you!!!

Happy travels!

While you may work harder and have less vacation time than those employed by large corps, you probably earn just as much if not more (just think of those Schedule C deductions!) and have the flexibility of the self-employed that many would envy :)

Yes, 5 weeks of vacation seems like a luxury, but that is a perhaps one piece of Americana that should be changed. In Europe, that is the norm!!!
