View Full Version : What happened to the cheap DCA-West Coast fares?

About a month ago, many of us were finding ridiculously low refundable fares from DCA/IAD to SEA/SFO/LAX/SAN...only $198 plus tax round trip with no advance purchase. Most of these were coded "TQ" or "WQ" and according to a ticket agent at DCA I spoke to they were GoFares (right around the time GoFares launched in the DC market)

Now it seems like the lowest last-minute fares from DCA to LAX on US are in the $600 range. AA and UA still have $298 r/t nonstops from IAD subject to space availability, though.

Are these "TQ" fares still available anywhere? Could they have been a glitch or test, only up for a couple of days? Or did savvy travelers like us simply snap them all up well in advance?

I have to book most of my West Coast travel on very short notice and would love to shift this business back to US.

Fletch!

All the discount fares are sold out anyway. Unless you want to fly-out on a Tueday and return on Saturday.... three months from now.

When they run those cheap transcons you have to by them quickly. They are only up for a limited time and sell out fast, espicially at the good flight times.
