If I'm travelling on a First class award, is it possible to upgrade my companion travelling with me on a Y-class revenue ticket, using my unlimited companion upgrades, and if so, would I just call the US3 service center and have them place my companion in the que?

I was able to do this last Dec. for PHL-PIT-LAS and back. My younger brother bought a revenue coach ticket and I had ticketed a premium coach award. The CP liaison was able to upgrade me to F and then I, in turn, upgraded my brother as my companion.
