Was on US 723 PHL-TPA. Inbound aircraft was US 12 from LAX. The departure showed on time past the scheduled 7:55pm departure, even though the inbound aircraft, after landing at 7:24pm, didn't get to the gate until 8:53pm from all the congestion. 723 left at 10:14pm and arrived at about 1:30am. Great crew though - the only good thing about the trip. Once we finally escaped the B/C taxiway, we were 28 in line for departure. The line for 9L departures was so long they were utilizing the ramps on the south side of the airport around the deicing stands.
Been a while since I was in a mess this big, even in PHL. It seems that rampers were kept out of the way of lightning for a while, there were some ground stops, and in general the 8pm flight bank seems to have gone out about 10-11pm. Not a fun night. I should have driven to Harrisburg or something and connected through Charlotte.

Buddy of mine was going PHL-ORD-SNA. Orginally sceduled PHL-ORD at noon, didn't leave until almost 3PM. Of course he missed his connection and the next one was full. I think he made it out of ORD at 7:55PM. Nothing like a 12+hr trip to the west coast :(

Luckily, I flew PIT-ATL-PBI yesterday on Delta. I usually fly PHL-PBI duringthe Thursday night/Friday afternoon weather & ATC delays so I can appreciate your frustrations!
If it makes you feel any better, EWR had 60-90 minute delays on average due to ATC holds. It was sunny at the field there.

What was a little out of the ordinary is the fact that the jetway pulled away and we went nowhere. Then, they pull the jetway ---back--- over! They made an announcement which basically said, "if you want off... fine here's your chance."
A handful of Y and about 3 F pax got off.
We hadn't been upgraded, so we asked about getting 2 of those F seats.
It wasn't a big deal PHL-DCA, but if we were going to sit on the tarmac for 3 hours, why not sit up front. It's like a transcon then.
They said they couldn't do that because "the seat assignments are all set."
Okay, so they can take people off the airpleane but they can't change seats to upgrade "preferred" members.
Riiiiight.

Flew back TPA-PHL last night. Left Tampa on time, landed 20 min early, taxied to the deicing stands again, and waited 65 minutes to get to our gate, which had been open the whole time. Captain was adequately pissed. Only silver lining is that there actually people waiting to wave us into the gate and pull up the jetway. I'd been expecting another 20 min for that once getting to the gate.
Another night of efficient ramp control at PHL.

PHL was a zoo again last night. Our incoming flight was about 3 hours late on a ground hold from PHL. Luckily, our outgoing flight was about 2 hours late too. We made it with about 5 minutes to spare and counted ourselves lucky to arrive home 2 hours late.

I was in PHL Monday evening except my plane and it seemed every other one going to O;Hare after 7 pm ended up being cancelled. I was re-booked for Tuesday morning at 7:55. While in line a lady was trying to get information about a incoming flight from Kansas City. A call to the CP desk showed the flight landed on time at 18:30 but was not yet at a gate 20:15 but would be going to D4 (glad I was not on that flight.
Come tuesday morning I am sitting in the food court between B and C when they announce that anyone on the 7:55 deaprture to Chicago should go to B10 thought this odd since the flight was showing B6 but went over anyway. Turns out the 7:55 had been cancelled and the 06:30 had not yet left and seats were available. SO off I went.
To make this long (time wise) trip really strange had a hour delay at O'Hare for the flight to Cedar Rapids (good this was the earlier one) and off I went got to Cedar Rapids early 9no comment). Finished work back to airport for a 18:55 departurte to o;Hare and back to Phl. But, weather is coming into the Cedar Rapids airport so they announce they want to depart early by 30 minutes to beat the storm. We board the aircraft the ramp is pulled back when the pilot announces that we are all going to have to get off and move to a safe location in the airport. As it turns out we did not beat the storm and that a Tornado Warning has been posted for the airport (a first for me taken off a plane for a tornado don't need to do that again). THe storm finally passes and we leave for o'Hare, do I need to say that we missed the connection to PHL. But we are rebooked on AMerican and arrive around 01:00 not to bad I gues.
THerefore the moral of the story is do not pack in garage D because you think you will be returning in Terminal D if you do you will probably end up coming in Terminal A.

Was on the 5pm flight BOS-PHL yesterday. A huge storm hit PHL around 6:15pm which left us in a holding pattern around the storm for 30 minutes. The pilot said they were almost about to reroute us to BWI. We were the second plane to land after the hold was released. We were then directed to "hang out" down where the deicing area was (another plane was in front of us). Captain said our gate is open but ATC wanted to get as many delayed planes out of PHL. He said it would probably be a 5 minute delay. So we waited, and waited- and I wished I didn't drink that full can of diet coke cause I had to go...badly. :( We finally got to the gate an hour later. Luckily I was in Row 1. ;)
Apparently the FAs were telling people that the 4:30pm BOS-PHL (which I debated about going on) was rerouted to BWI. There also was some fire trucks at terminal F, I believe. It was a strange night.
