Some fodder for those who have advanced skill in creating strange routings... I've got to go from PHL to ABQ 8/16-19. I can fly the 15th or 20th if necessary, but that's not ideal. Since US doesn't fly into ABQ, the last leg will likely have to be on United. How many miles can I turn this trip into?

... of course this is important since I'm waaaaay behind on miles this year thanks to clients in DC who demand train travel... :D

The best direct flight (non-MR) I could find from PHL to ABQ was the following routing on Orbitz for $416 on UA, PHL->DEN->ABQ->DEN->PHL with an early morning departure. This would net you 4134 preferred mile at a cost per mile of $0.1006. I could find is the following routing (PHL->BOS->ORD->DEN-ABQ->DEN->ORD->BOS->PHL) which will net you 5530 preferred miles for the entire trip for $426.30 using ITA, at a cost per mile of $0.077. These calculations do not could any status bonus miles in their figures. I'm sorry the US flights are booked as UA code shares but it was the only way I could get a price that was reasonable.
