For those Platinum/Signature card-holding procrastinators who received their $99 companion pass in January's statement: It must be ticketed by today, so don't let it go to waste! I used mine yesterday to ticket my brother & his new wife on a belated honeymoon to New Orleans. The agent I spoke to said it was her third $99 coupon she was ticketing that day.

Dang, I don't think I ever received mine. Who do I call about that....BoA?

You'd have to call BoA. It gets buried in your statement envelope with all the other crap. We're doing a long weekend in Maine with ours which we just remembered Saturday.

OK, here's another question. What if I am able to get these companion passes but must book right away? Can you book award tix/passes like these just to book before the due date, then change later?

Just called BoA about these companion passes. CSR on the phone told me no dice, too late, can't mail out replacements. I asked for a supervisor. Supervisor was gruff for a bit, then checked my account and lo and behold, her tune changed! She's sending out the welcome kit I never received, including the companion passes, and apologized for the inconvenience. WHY can't people give you good service the first time around? Reminds me of a Grisham book in which the insurance company directed its reps to deny all claims the first time around...chances are a lot of folks wouldn't resubmit. How many people don't ask for a supervisor and don't get what they deserve??

I just got my BoA card in May. I've already received my club pass, but not my companion passes. Do I just have to wait until a new batch of them goes out to everyone (next month's statement, perhaps?)

Greg, I just received my club pass in the latest statement, so clearly I am not the one to ask.

The companion passes are mailed in the January statement. The club passes are mailed in the June statement. By the way...after taxes, the $99 companion ticket ends up being $130.

Are these companion tickets good *anywhere* that USAir files in the 48 states? Do they companion tickets come out of the award ticket bucket or what fare class are they booked in? Does a particular flight need to have availability in a certain fare bucket to confirm a companion ticket?

Yes, you can use anywhere in the continental US, but the flights have to be on US metal, and the original ticket has to be $250 or higher. I don't think there are any restrictions other than blackout days around holidays. All-in-all a pretty good deal for non-go-fares city pairs.

That's good to know. I guess I should stop waiting for them and book our trip to Seattle in September then :D

Anybody know if the Companion Pass fares would net miles as well? Or do they count as "Award" tickets? :)

Yes, it does accrue Dividend Miles (for the offer ending June 30, 2004). Next year's rules might be different.

Very nice. now to apply for a visa and get a couple of those to sucker somebody in on a MR :)

Great... then it wounds like the companion pass would be ideal for booking a ticket to a small USAirways monopolized station. (i.e. an airport only served by USAirways that usually has high prices such as BHB or OAJ, etc) These tickets are routinely $250+
